Dear Friends,

We are so excited to announce that our friend, TanNa Young, Coordinating Producer, on the hit CBS TV series, The Good Wife,  starring Emmy-Award-winner, Julianna Margulies, has generously  donated a VIP Set Visit where the winner and a guest can watch the filming of the show, meet the cast and will get a behind-the- scenes tour at the studios in Brooklyn, NY. The proceeds will benefit Equine Advocates. There are just six days left to bid on this exclusive package. To read all of the details and place a bid, please go to the online auction site, Charity Buzz, This promises to be a thrilling once-in-a-lifetime experience for two lucky fans of this immensely popular award-winning program.

I am very honored to be one of the guest speakers at the 2014 International Equine Conference which will be held in Wellington, FL on September 19, 20 and 21. This annual event is sponsored by the Equine Welfare Alliance and the Wild Horse Freedom Federation.  I will be speaking about the gradual transfer of pregnant mares' urine (PMU) production from Canada to Third World countries since the dramatic health risks of taking PMU drugs were first revealed in the Women's Health Initiative of 2002.  I will also cover other aspects of this barbaric and outdated industry which has claimed the lives of millions of horses since its inception in 1942. Go to International Equine Conference to learn more about the conference and to register.

I am very pleased to share with you an article I wrote titled New Hope for America's Horses for a publication called, Saratoga Seasons, that came out in July. It's about horse slaughter - the very issue that inspired me to start Equine Advocates back in 1996. It also covers the very important recent progress that has been made that hopefully will lead to the end of this horrible practice once and for all.

Fall is the most beautiful time of the year at the sanctuary and we urge those of you who live in this part of the country to visit us on one of the three remaining Open Days this year - September 27, October 19 and November 9. The September Open Day will be very special as Equine Advocates participates in Chatham Farm and Art Tour Day from 10 AM - 4 PM.  Renowned Wildlife Photographer, Jim Craner, will be on hand to conduct two fabulous classes on "Photographing The Horse." It promises to be a fun-filled day here at Equine Advocates so please join us if you can.  If you wish to participate in one of the photo classes, please email us as space is limited.  Admission to the Sanctuary is free.  Please go to Chatham Keep Farming for more details about this event and the other participating farms.

Finally, our 2015 Calendar is now available featuring many of our remarkable equine residents, including three new arrivals who came to the sanctuary over the past eleven months:  Press Exclusive, a Kentucky-bred Thoroughbred Mare who had raced in Canada;  Hayden, a Wild American Mustang from the Pryor Mountains of Montana; and Tina, a filly of mixed breeding, who had a very rough start in New York State, but who is overcoming her difficulties with flying colors since coming here. The calendars are $15 including postage.  Please email us if you wish to order one or more!

Stay tune for more news soon.

Thank you.
