The holidays rush us right up to a New Year - 2014.  With the New Year comes resolutions to do better, improve, try new things, and more.  Resolutions are a smart thing to do - it gets you focused on life and play. Many of us will be planning our race calendar and looking to complete a new distance, get faster, get stronger. Others may be thinking it is time to get in shape and resolve to start a fitness or running program.
  
Here are some interesting New Year's Resolution Statistics from a study at the University of Scranton and Statistic Brain:  
45% - Americans usually make resolutions
17% - Americans infrequently make resolutions
38% - Americans absolutely never make resolutions
  
Research has found that people who explicitly make resolutions are 10 times more likely to attain their goals than people who don't explicitly make resolutions. So get your pad and pen out and make some New Year's Resolutions!

#3 ~ Spend Less, Save More
#4 ~ Enjoy Life to the Fullest

More New Year's Resolution Statistics on how long we all stick to our resolutions:  
  
75% - Resolution maintained through the first week of the New Year
71% - Resolution maintained through 2 weeks
64% - Resolution maintained through 1 month
46% - Resolution maintained past 6 months  
  
So in the Top 5, three resolutions all involve being healthy, losing weight, and living a full life - all made easier by keeping active and being FIT. 
  
What will you resolve to do in 2014?  The world is out there for you, challenge it and yourself to be the best that you can be.  To live the best life that you can create. Be Brave. Be Courageous. And you will Be Strong!

Staring December 19th until December 24th we will be opening the store an hour early. So get here and get your holiday shopping done! Our hours will be:
Thursday (12/19) and Friday (12/20) 9 AM - 8PM 
Saturday (12/21) 9AM - 6PM, and
Sunday (12/22) 11AM - 5PM
Monday (12/23) 9AM - 8PM
 
We will be OPEN Christmas Eve (12/24) from 9AM - 3PM
We will be CLOSED Christmas Day (12/25)
We will be OPEN New Year's Eve (12/31) from 10AM - 3PM
We will be CLOSED New Year's Day (1/1)
 
Please note that there will be no Wednesday night group runs from the store on 12/25 and 1/1/2014. Group runs will continue Wednesday, January 8th 2014.

Ready to run or walk the Biggest Loser Half Marathon? 

 

Registration is now open and there are three different training groups for the half marathon. We will be having a run program, a run/walk program, and our first ever walking program.


What we offer:

  • Complete training schedule for full 16 weeks
  • Two coaches available by email anytime 
  • Sunday group runs starting at 7:30 am from Fleet Feet Sports of Buffalo 
  • Technical shirt, gender specific 
  • Weekly newsletters

  • Specialized training for your goals in either a Run, Run/Walk, or Walk program.

New members: $120.00 
Returning training group members: $100.00 (Returning group members apply to anyone who has participated in a Fleet Feet training group in the past year.) 

PLEASE NOTE: To participate in this program you need to be able to walk or run 3 miles at a pace of 22 min/mile or faster within the 3 months leading up to the start of the program.

Ready to run/walk the Biggest Loser 5K?   

  

No Boundaries Summer Session is open for registration and is targeting the

Biggest Loser 5K on Sunday August 31, 2014

 

No Boundaries in partnership with New Balance is a beginner 5K (3.1 miles) training program designed for people who are currently inactive or new to running and run/walking. While No Boundaries focuses on beginners, all levels of runners and run/walkers are welcome. The program is structured to help you run across the finish line in just 10-12 weeks!  Along the way we'll provide you with motivation to keep you moving, guidance and advice, weekly group training runs or run/walks, and educational clinics on topics such as proper nutrition, choosing the right gear, and avoiding injury. Plus, you'll have the camaraderie of others just like you! 

 

The program will start the week of Monday June 9th, 2013 

Sessions will be held Monday nights at 6PM at Gallagher Beach or Tuesday nights at 6PM in Delaware Park, each session participant cap is set at 125 people and we are sure they will sell out.


Registration Fees: 

$99 (Independent Health's Wellness Discount of $37.50 will be refunded to you pending completion of the program)

SPRING NO BOUNDARIES REGISTRATION   

  

No Boundaries Spring Sessions are open for registration and is targeting the

Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on Saturday June 14, 2014

Pittsburgh Marathon & Half Marathon (Sunday 5/4/14)

  • 18 week training program
    • Veteran: having completed 2 or more marathons and currently able to run 30 miles per week
    • Rookie: running first or second marathon, or returning to marathon running and currently running less than 30 miles per week

BOSTON 365: Boston Marathon (Monday 4/21/14)   


(Only 7 spots left)
    • 18 week training program
      • Veteran training program for runners who have completed at least one marathon
      • Qualified and registered for the 2014 Boston Marathon
      • Currently running at least 20 miles per week

Fleet Feet Sports Buffalo is thrilled to announce that The Biggest Loser Half Marathon/5K is coming to Buffalo! Dan has been working with the Buffalo Niagara Sports Commission to make this happen for our community.
 
The race will be run on Sunday 8/31/14 and will bring in runners from across the area as well as former contestants. The Biggest Loser Half Marathon/5K will replace the Fleet Feet 15K-Run into Buffalo which has run on Labor Day for 7 years. What will not change is Fleet Feet Sports commitment to our community and Shoes on Students (SOS)! A donation from The Biggest Loser Half Marathon/5K will benefit Shoes on Students and continue to provide new training shoes for young runners in our community.

Mark your calendars - 8/31/14. Visit the race website - register for the Half Marathon, the 5K, and bring the kids out for the 1 mile run - run on Labor Day weekend. Watch for more details from Fleet Feet Sports on training programs to get you ready to challenge the Biggest Loser Half Marathon/5K.
