Stephanie Imbeau Exhibit
through November 13

Stephanie Imbeau most recently exhibited at FMU's Hyman Fine Arts Center Gallery. The Greater Lake City Artists Guild will continue hosting this exhibition at the ArtFields Gallery in Lake City through the fall. Imbeau's practice investigates the way individuals seek community, personal security, and a place to belong. She uses representations of protective structures as anthropomorphizations of people. These basic forms of shelter also provide the framework for a conceptual mapping of the barriers we draw to make a safe space for ourselves. The simple outline of a house, for example, is both a boundary and a claim, "I am here" - with walls and a roof. She uses a variety of mediums with a specific interest in materials that posses the opposing qualities of utility and fragility, such as clay, cardboard and umbrellas. An artist reception will be held at 5:30 p.m. Friday. Gallery admission is free and hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
