Friendship's Weekly Updates
Friendship Weekly Announcements
March 10, 2013

Greetings Friendship Family...

It is March and it is Youth Month here at Friendship! Youth Month is all about our encouraging and celebrating our Children and Youth here at Friendship. You may not be aware, but we have some great youth here at Friendship and they all need our love and support! I am asking all members to take time this month to introduce yourself to a young person and make a new connection. Remember, it takes a village to raise a child! Let us work together at influencing youth and children to be all God called them to be!

Parents, know that we are praying for you and with you for your children. We invite you to see the information below regarding Youth Month and encourage you to make your young person, 6th through 12th grade, participate in these events. I want to personally invite you to bring your youth to the Prayer Breakfast this Saturday. Hopefully, I will see your son or daughter there!

Thank you to everyone who has participated in "Bring the Whole Tithe Sunday." It is encouraging to know that many of us are attempting to make adjustments and honor God with our actual and true tithe to the Lord out of obedience. It is equally encouraging to hear that our Bible Study classes are growing as well. It is so important to get connected to a Weekly Bible Study or Sunday School Class so that you might continue to grow in God's grace. It will be several weeks before we see the impact of our service to God in the ministries, but I am praying that each of us finds a place to use what God has given us to make an impact in our church and in the community. We must always bring our whole tithe to God! Time, Treasure, Talent!

Remember, this year's theme is about MOVING FORWARD! We are perpetually and faithfully MOVING FORWARD! FORWARD in our FAITHFULNESS, FORWARD in UNITY, FORWARD in PRAYER and FORWARD in FAITH. Let's continue to MOVE FORWARD together. God has a plan and He is working His plan.

Know that we are praying for you. When I say we, I mean the staff, the leadership team, and the prayer ministry. We have you covered and God has your back! Please continue to pray for the Pastoral Search Team (PST) and don't forget to pray for one another. Keep looking to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith!

In Service to Him,

God's People of Purpose Faithfully Moving Forward

Receiving God's Clear Direction In All Decisions and Within All Ministries. - Matthew 6:33

"From one degree of glory to another." 2Co 3:18 AMP
How would you describe someone who is spiritually mature? Leonard Wedel says: "A mature person does not take himself too seriously...keeps himself alert in mind ...does not always view with alarm every adverse situation that arises...Is too big to be little...never feels too great to do little things, and is never too proud to do humble things ...never accepts either success or failure in themselves as one who is able to control his or her not afraid to make mistakes...has faith in themselves which becomes stronger as it is fortified by their faith in God." So, measured by that standard, how well are you doing? Are you able to evaluate your progress, without getting discouraged or feeling condemned? Can you look at how far you still have to go, yet be able to appreciate and celebrate how far you have already come? The Bible says we are changed "from one degree of glory to another." Notice, spiritual maturity takes place by degrees. In small steps, not giant leaps. You must learn to live by God's Word, not by how you feel, for His Word states that as long as you believe, God is working in you: "The Word of effectually at work in you who believe [exercising its superhuman power in those who adhere to and trust in and rely on it]" (1Th 2:13 AMP). There is a direct connection between your daily intake of God's Word and your maturity level. And the good news is, God hasn't left us to do it on our own. "We...are being transformed...from glory to the Spirit" (2Co 3:18 NKJV).
This week we will answer the question, what actions please God in our worship? Our study scriptures are 1 Timothy 2:1-5. Did you know there are appropriate and inappropriate ways for believers to worship publicly. Consider Marsha, she and her family went to church most every Sunday. She would admit that not every Sunday she was in attendance did she actually have the sincere desire and intent to worship. She attended as a matter of habit, but sometimes she didn't truly worship. Sometimes her attitude and disposition prevented her from worshipping. At other times, she couldn't get past some of the parts of the service that didn't fit her personal preference. Sometimes the behavior of others in the service proved to be a distraction to her. Most of us can identify with Marsha. We come to Friendship intending to worship. We know that worship isn't about us but about God. Worship is for His good pleasure. Knowing that, how can we participate in public worship that pleases Him? Come and grow with us this Sunday in Bible Study.
