Dear Girl Scout Family,
Kismet=meant to be.
Seeing Girl Scouting happen first hand makes me so proud of this great sisterhood ... combined with reflection, it also offers personal leadership growth.
Last week I was part of the Registration Night in Becker, MN. Volunteers Jean and Marie had a well planned event. There was a flag ceremony, mini-troop meeting (led by girls!), and plenty of volunteers to talk with new families. Mostly I brought paperwork and handed pencils to the girls which gave me time to see what was happening at each of the tables.
The following night I stopped after work to see my grandma who lives across town. My visit left me time to get a haircut, but not enough time to get to my regular salon. Luckily there was a salon nearby still open and with a short line.
I struck up a conversation with my stylist Danielle as she washed and cut my hair. Somehow we got around to talking about Girl Scouts (how does that always happen?). Danielle told me her daughters were looking to get involved in a troop. I took a deep breath & prepared to break the news that I wouldn't the details about the troop for her kindergartener and a fifth grader. Then she spoke the words that nearly knocked me off my chair,
"We're from Becker."
Now what are the chances? Lakes and Pines serves 350+ towns and she's from the one town I know EXACTLY where new troop membership is at from the top of my head!
Here's hoping your week is full of kismet moments & (like me) you're loving every minute of it!
