Dear Girl Scout Family,
One of my Girl Scout friends and I were talking last week about holiday lights. My friend announced, "This year I'm just turning my lights on for a couple of hours in the evening. I just got done facilitating the 'It's your planet, love it' journey with girls and it really made me think." I smiled. I can relate. A few years ago my daughter's troop talked about the carbon footprint made by purchasing pickles in the store vs. using local ingredients. I had never considered how many miles were put on to bring the ingredients together and get the tasty treats to my table. It gave a whole new meaning to "buy local" for me. Have you had a thought provoking experience after doing a Girl Scout activity? Let me know! I'd love to feature YOUR Girl Scout story in an upcoming issue! Tauna All Girl Scout Offices will be closed Dec 24-Jan 1. E-Weekly will also take a break--no issues Dec 24 & Dec 31. |
