Dear Girl Scout Family,
March 12: Girl Scouts marks 101 Years
Next week we will join the 3.2 million Girl Scouts around the country celebrating the 101st anniversary of Girl Scouts. In 1912, when our organization was founded, many girls' paths in life were limited. Juliette Gordon Low created Girl Scouts so "... any American girl could expand her personal horizon by having fun while exploring new interests and contributing to society." Thinking about the Girl Scouts I know today, Juliette's vision is being carried out well in Lakes and Pines!
March is also a time when our country celebrates Women's History Month. At WomensHistoryMonth.gov I read little bit more about the celebration, "...paying tribute to the generations of women whose commitment to nature and the planet have proved invaluable to society." It's a nice connection for us to talk with girls about, isn't it?
March is a month of celebrations. And while we're celebrating, I want to thank YOU for helping girls build leadership skills in Girl Scouting. Have a great week!
Tauna
