Houston High Named Early Certified School by NASA

      NASA

HSA Houston High has been named an EARLY certified school by the Educational Robotics Team at NASA!

On Saturday, September 24, 2011, HSA Houston High hosted their first robotics training for the elementary robotics program, EARLY robotics. It was very well attended not only by Harmony schools but by HISD schools as well. Until the Harmony training, EARLY Robotics was only in the Houston Metropolitan area. HSA became the first to expand this program to other cities in Texas and Oklahoma. The training was a huge success and the schools are very excited about the upcoming EARLY tournament to be hosted by HSA High on December 10, 2011. These are the schools that attended the training:

Enjoying the First Volleyball Season

brazos sport
The T-CAL state volleyball tournament in San Antonio is a nice reward for Harmony Science Academy's first season of volleyball, but it comes with a price. The players have a history project to write about the Alamo.

"It's super exciting," Lady Tigers head coach Kendra Martin said. "I am overjoyed really for the experience, for them to have it."

While the Lady Tigers have been making history of their own during their inaugural season, the sport is hardly new to their coach.

Red Ribbon Week

drug free

As drug-free schools, Harmony Public Schools celebrated Red Ribbon Week with various activities within the campuses. In the week of October 24-28, Harmony campuses joined the celebration by decorating bulletin boards and create posters to show their commitment to stay drug-free.

As part of the celebrations, Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia paid a visit to School of Ingenuity and Officer Newman from the HPD visited the school with a trained canine who skillfully demonstrated the special skills he has been taught to help beat the war against drugs. Students also made a nice choreography by writing HARMONY DRUG FREE.

More information could be found about Red Ribbon Week here.
