In Remembrance of 9/11
On the 10th year of 9/11, Harmony Public Schools pay tribute to those innocent souls who lost their life as a result of insidious attacks as well as to unsung heroes who risked their own life to save hundred others. The people of the United States of America will always remember those innocent and courageous people and keep them in their heart and prayers.
Harmony Public Schools commemorated this bitter incident in its campuses. For example, Ms. Greenwalt of Art School painted "We Remember... As an American Flag" on the windows in front of the school. Yellow ribbons were also tied along with American and Texas Flags on the poles and various flags were placed around the school.

Michele Sanders-Limonthas

Mrs. Sanders-Limonthas is a Harmony graduate. She currently works for Harmony Science Academy High - Houston. She is the Science Department Chair and AP Biology teacher.
How does it feel to be a teacher at a schools system where you graduated from?
Honestly, it is a little weird because for the last three years, I have taught students that knew me when I was in high school. On the other hand though, I feel that because I was once a student here, I am in a better position to understand the obstaces the students face and how to help them.

Each month we ask a logic, math or science-related question in our newsletter and the first three respondents with the correct answer are awarded with a modest gift.
This Month's Question:
There are three close friends: Martha, Jane and Amber. Martha knows two numbers, each greater than 1. Jane only knows the products of these two numbers, while Amber knows only their sum. Jane and Amber also know that the number is greater than 1. Martha challenges them to guess:
Jane: I don't know anything about the sum of these numbers. Amber: Let me tell you then. The sum of these numbers is fewer than 14. Jane: I knew that. But, I now know the numbers as well. Amber: So do I. What were the numbers?Send your answers to news@harmonytx.org The Answer to the Last Issue: You need to use the masses of 1, 3, 9 and 27. August Winners: M. Kaygusuz, S. Orman, D. Pilcher.
|
Correction: In our August issue, there were two different numbers about Harmony Public Schools' total student number within the news entitled "Superintendent's Welcome Message". The correct number stands at around 20,000. We apologize for any confusion and misunderstanding.
