Acceptances to Top Schools 
Harmony School of Advancement seniors Ding Z. and Leon L. have both been accepted to MIT. Ding also got acceptance from California Institute of Technology (ranked 5th) and Leon from The University of Texas at Ausitn (ranked 47th). Here is the list of the latest acceptances:
HSA Houston High School senior Christian U. ($225,000) to Notre Dame University,
HSA Fort Worth senior Natnael D. ($240,000) to University of Chicago,
HSA Dallas senior Miguel G. to "Texas A&M College Station" (#58) and Hana'A S. to "Baylor" (#75),

Harmony Student in the Symposium

Paul Huron IV from HSA San Antonio has been selected to present his abstract at the Texas Junior Science & Humanities Symposium regional competition being held at the campus of Texas A&M University between the dates of January 26-28, 2012. The Junior Science and Humanities Symposia (JSHS) Program has been sponsored by the United States Department of the Army since its inception in 1958, and additionally joined by the Departments of the Navy and Air Force after 1995. Math Olympiad Winners
Harmony School of Innovation at Carrollton, Dallas competed in the Texas Charter School Academic and Athletic League's State Math Olympiad (TCSAAL) with two teams on December 10. Both teams placed first (Tigers MathCounts) and second (HSI-Mathletes) respectively. The competition took place in the Capitol building in Austin. Our congratulations go to the students, parents and Mr. Citci, the team coach.

Watching the Live Surgery!

The students of PLTW Biomedical Sciences course at HSA Dallas High School had the excellent opportunity to watch live surgery from the HSA campus. The school collaborated with Stream Venue Health Care Inc. and Texas Institute of Surgery. Harmony students watched the Hip Arthroscopy surgery on the screen and also were able to ask questions at the same time. They saw the surgery from the very beginning right from patient prep to completion of the surgery. Most of these students are looking forward to pursuing a career at medicine and watching live surgery allowed them to get a feel of how medical field looks like. See more pictures from the event.

Grand Opening Ceremony

HSA West Houston celebrated its Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. Our distinguished guest was State Senator Glenn Hegar, who also cut the ribbon. After Mrs. Bradow's school choir performed the national anthem and Pledge of Allegiance, Senator Hegar presented the trophies to the students who won the Grand Award in the school-wide science fair and then he addressed to the parents, students and other distinguished guests stating how Harmony Schools contributes to the community and attain the academic excellence.

Representative Harper-Brown's Visit

On Monday, December 5, State Representative Linda Harper-Brown visited Harmony Science Academy Dallas campus. Representative Harper-Brown spoke to seniors and had a school tour as well.

Police Chief Visits Harmony

On Tuesday, December 6th, HSA Austin North had the opportunity to hear Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo speak during a luncheon. Before the lunch was served, Chief Acevedo had been given a tour of by the students.

We, Harmony Advocates Austin, would like to share truthful and encouraging information with our parents, teachers, and supporters! Our goal is to support the Harmony Public Schools with honest, straightforward information and provide a community service to help educate those interested in our school system.

CRLP Seminar at Harmony

On Thursday, December 1, 2011, CLRP welcomed Lucien Junkin, Chief Engineer - Space Exploration Vehicle and Juan Salinas, Robotics Education Outreach Coordinator to the HSA Houston High School campus. Mr. Junkin addressed to students about the future of engineering, science, and the United States' future role in space explorations and manned space flights. Mr. Salinas talked to students about the project management and the "Ultimate Project Manager" - Gene Krantz (NASA Operations Manager for 30 years). Both Cosmos Foundation and HSA received the Robotics Chairman's Award for their commitment to the growth of robotics education.

Spanish Olympiad at Laredo Campus

HSA Laredo hosted the First Annual Spanish Olympiad on December 14. Students showcased their talents in various categories including dance, poetry and singing.
The special guest of the evening was the Contemporary Band from Laredo.

STEM Conference at Moody Gardens

Science teachers are cordially invited to the STEM Conference at Moody Gardens on January 12-14, 2012. Mr. Sakar, the head of Physics Department at Harmony and HSA Houston High School Physics teacher, will also have a workshop in the conference.

Grace Cruz

Mrs. Cruz works for Harmony Science Academy San Antonio since 2006. She is currently the K-3 Principal.
When did your Harmony experience start? What positions have you assumed so far?
I began my career with Harmony in 2006 as a third grade teacher. I worked as a third grade teacher for three years and then moved into administration. This is my third year as the K-3 Principal and truly enjoy the position. I have also had the privilege of serving as the K-5 ELA and SS Cluster Chair and have truly loved visiting the campuses in san Antonio and working with the teachers. Our School and our sister school in San Antonio have amazing students and parents and it has been a pleasure to work with them.

Stroll & Roll Out Bullying!
HSA El Paso faculty, parents and students were gathered in Ascarate Park to support The El Paso County Sheriff's Office Anti-Bullying Coalition and Children's Disabilities Information Coalition in "Stroll & Roll Out Bullying - 1 Mile Fun Walk" event. Every day, more than 160,000 children nationwide stay home from school to avoid being bullied. Not only are the effects of bullying on a child felt immediately, but they can also be lifelong - or even tragic.
