Four Leaf Clovers, Daffodils and  Green Beer with

Great Friends

Time springs forward and hope springs eternal.  Life is changing before our very eyes.  The birds are nesting, the daffodils are blooming and the sunny days are getting longer and more beautiful with every sunset.  We wish you all a Happy St. Patrick's Day and hope you find the perfect four leaf clover to make a wish on.

In case you didn't know, the "heartline" in our bear logo comes from the Zuni Indian symbol for long life, luck and good health.  So whether it comes from Indian lore or a leprechaun, we hope that your Spring brings you only good things.

Did You Know?

St. Patricks Day - Even though it began as a religious holiday to honor St. Patrick, in the early 17th century it officially became a "feast day", but gradually has become a celebration of Irish culture in general.

Shamrock -  The shamrock is a three-leafed old white clover, and known as a symbol of Ireland

The Four-Leaf Clover - The four-leaf clover is an uncommon variation of the common, three-leaved clover. According to tradition, such leaves bring good luck to their finders, especially if found accidentally.  According to legend, each leaf represents something: the first is for faith, the second is for hope, the third is for love, and the fourth is for luck.

Wearing of the Green - Originally, the colour associated with Saint Patrick was blue. Over the years the colour green and its association with Saint Patrick's day grew.  Green ribbons and shamrocks were worn in celebration of St Patrick's Day as early as the 17th century. Saint Patrick is said to have used the shamrock, a three-leaved plant, to explain the Holy Trinity to the pagan Irish.  In the 1798 rebellion, to make a political statement, Irish soldiers wore full green uniforms on 17 March in hopes of catching public attention.  The phrase "the wearing of the green", meaning to wear a shamrock on one's clothing, derives from a song of the same name.

St. Paddy's Day in the U.S. - St. Patrick's Day, although not a legal holiday anywhere in the United States, is nonetheless widely recognized and celebrated throughout the country. It is primarily celebrated as a celebration of Irish and Irish American culture; celebrations include prominent displays of the colour green, feasting, copious consumption of alcohol, religious observances, and numerous parades. The holiday has been celebrated on the North American continent since the late eighteenth century, prior to the American Revolution.

Walls for the wind,
And a roof for the rain,
And drinks beside the fire --
Laughter to cheer you
And those you love near you,
And all that your heart may desire!
