Craft Beer Lovers!
Great Lakes Dopplerock is here! 7.8% ABV. A round and malty doppelbock balanced by rich flavors. It won't last long.
Style Origin: Our doppelbock (German for "double bock") celebrates the style originally developed by medieval monks. Living by the
strict rules of their order, monks were regularly required to castigate themselves by periodic bouts of fasting, when next-to-no solid food was
allowed to pass their lips. The longest and most taxing of these periods of culinary abstinencewas, of course, Lent-the 46 days between Ash
Wednesday and Easter Sunday. Because the monks believed that liquids not only cleansed the body but also the soul, they would make plenty of "liquid bread" instead of solid bread from
their grain and then drink it in copious quantities...the more, the holier.
*Pairs With: Pot roast, hearty beef stews and earthy cheeses.
*Flavor: Round and malty balanced by rich flavors
*Shelf Life: 100 days

Greetings!
First off, I would like to inform everyone about our website that is out of commission. We will be working on getting it back up so that everyone can keep up on our music and foodie schedule!
Winter is almost over and Spring is around the corner. Thanks to a mild winter our Saturdays have been consistant but we sure would like more to do through the week! Stop in an see us in Sugarcreek, we have added many wines and Ohio products to our line-up!
The clean up and re-arranging went well in February as we have recoated the wine bar, refinished the floors and are looking into adding more tables and chairs.

Jose Madrid Salsa's
In 1976, Mike Zakany and his brother started a restaurant in downtown Zanesville, Ohio. After months of planning and building, Zak's Restaurant was a reality. The contemporary casual restaurant was a welcome addition to the small urban center and was quite successful from the beginning. It was clear that the emerging ethnic food market was a logical niche for the Zakany brothers as their own Mexican heritage had a huge influence in the family kitchen. Estelle Zakany, the family matriarch, helped her sons integrate more authentic Mexican cuisine into the menu and life of the restaurant.
Mike continued to work on the salsa recipes based on his research and experimentation. The restaurant customers were the critics for the salsa formulas born from Mike's hard work in the kitchen. Eventually, the "favorite" blend of spices, chili peppers and herbs were developed. These recipes came from the direct influence of his maternal grandfathers cooking culture. In 1987, José Madrid Salsa became a reality, named after the family icon and beloved grandfather from Clovis, New Mexico. Mike Zakany's tribute to his grandfather celebrates his childhood memories of the larger than life man.

Notes from the Wine Specialist
Winter time...when things are a little slower around The Buckeye Wine Gallery we get the opportunity take a field trip to some of the many Ohio Wineries. This is what we call work, I mean research. During this time we get to try some different wines and gather some ideas. After all is said and done what happens is we add a few more wineries to our growing list. This trip we added Matus Winery and Paper Moon Winery and let's just say both of these places are worth the trip. What we came back with is some new friends and more Great Ohio Wines so stop in Heini's Gourmet Market and ask us about the new wines we found, we would love to pour you a sample and a whole lot more. We also visited Vermilian Valley Vineyards which may be coming this spring!
