Fireworks Mahalo
Firework display from
Mi's Bistro

The spectacular fireworks display on the 4th of July in Historic Kailua Village was brought to the community through the generosity of corporate sponsors and dedicated individuals. Thanks to all and to the Kailua-Kona Community Parade Association.
It Takes a Village

If you see someone tagging or painting graffiti in Historic Kailua Village take a photo with your phone and alert the police department (808-935-3311) on their non-emergency line. KVBID Ambassadors do a great job of cleaning up graffiti, but let's stop the culprits from defacing the Village.

Alahou Street Opens

The much anticipated Alahou Street connection to Henry Street opened in late June. This through street enhances vehicle connectivity and encourages walkability in the Village. The Lono Kona subdivision now has access to Henry Street.

Niumalu Marketplace

The $95 million Niumalu Marketplace, a new 180,000-square foot shopping center, recently broke ground on 20 acres off Henry Street. Anchored by Safeway and an 18-pump gas station, Niumalu Marketplace plans to open in early 2020.

Kokua Kailua

Make plans to spend a beautiful Sunday afternoon at Kokua Kailua with local vendors, artists and musicians in Historic Kailua Village. On Sunday, July 15, Alii Drive is the place to be from 1 pm to 6 pm for a festive, pedestrian-only outdoor marketplace that makes for a family friendly experience. Leashed dogs are welcome to stroll too!

Hawaiian Sunset Saturdays

Everyone is invited to gather on the last Saturday of the month (Saturday, July 28) at the Coconut Grove Marketplace on Alii Drive from 5:30 to 6:30 pm to celebrate Kona's spectacular sunset with live Hawaiian music and beautiful hula performed by Halau Ka'eaikahelelani. Bring a lawn chair or beach mat and enjoy the outdoor lawn setting as the sun begins its journey over the horizon. Parking is available; coolers are not permitted.

As Hawaiian Sunset Saturday comes to a close, extend your evening at one of many nearby restaurants. Hawaiian Sunset Saturday is presented at no charge by KVBID with support from Hawaii Tourism Authority.
