Four student ambassador's from the Toledo area Horizon Science Academy Schools were awarded a free trip to Washington D.C. for being part of the Student Ambassador leadership program. IMP Spring Break Trip

IMP (Ivy League Mentorship Program) students had a wonderful trip to Columbus and Dayton during spring break. They visited COSI, which is a national science museum, and toured The Ohio State University. During their trip, they stayed at the Activity Center in Dayton. They concluded the trip with a visit to the Air Force Museum in Dayton. According to a junior IMP student, "It was a great experience because I learned a lot about history and different cultures. It opened up conversations with others where staff and students learned from each other."

HSAT Wins 1st Place at Dance Competition

On Saturday, April 12, 2014, the Spanish Dance group competed in the Turquoise International Language and Arts Competition in Chicago, Illinois.  The dance group prepared a traditional folklore dance from one of many Indigenous groups of Ecuador. Mrs. Diaz, Mrs. Herrera and their 13 dancers brought HSAT home a 1st place trophy!  Once again, our students made the HSAT family proud.  Congratulations! Go Jags!

Councilwoman Sandy Spang Visits HSAT

City Councilwoman Sandy Spang visited Mrs. Peters' class to read to students as part of our Community Reader Program. Our students shared with her that they were learning prepositions, arithmetic, and about Martin Luther King Jr. They eagerly listened to her read stories about a little girl and her adventure. Mrs. Spang spent quite a bit of time talking to Mrs. Peters and the students and enjoying the classroom. Thanks so much to Councilwoman Sandy Spang for visiting!

HSAT Welcomes Councilman Mike Craig

Also visiting HSAT as part of our Community Reader Program was Councilman Mike Craig, who helped us celebrate both Dr. Seuss's birthday and St. Patrick's Day with a robust reading of Green Eggs and Ham. The student's loved hearing the silly story and learning about one of the Councilman's favorite authors when he was young.
