The UNConference

The 1st IEEE EMBS UnConference on Wearable & Ubiquitous Technology

for Health & Wellness  (http://embc2011.embs.org/unconference) to be

held on August 30, 2011as part of the program of EMBC2011 (http://embc2011.embs.org/).

We solicit the submission of abstracts for a Demo Competition that

will be held during the unconference. The demo competition will

highlight the medical applications of wearable sensors & systems

and will provide a great platform to highlight your work.

Demo Competition

Demo Topic

The demonstrations will highlight wearable sensors and systems for

medical applications.

Abstract Submission

To submit for a potential demonstration at the unconference, please

use the following template  and email the abstract to spatel19@partners.org.

Demo abstracts should be no longer than 1 page. Authors are also

encouraged to submit a video for increased visibility. If you are

submitting a video, please upload it to YouTube and send us a link.

All submitted abstracts and videos will be posted on the unconference

website.

Demo Presentation

The session will be organized using the speed geeking format.

Attendees will be divided in groups. Each group will have about

5 minutes to examine each demonstration and discuss with the

authors. Your presentation should first highlight (similar to an

elevator pitch) the need and impact of your technology (~2min),

followed by a demonstration (~3min).

Important Dates

Demo abstracts due: July 22nd 2011

Acceptance notification: August 5th 2011

Awards

Two demos will be selected for an award as the "most innovative"

and the "highest potential impact" demos.

Congratulations!

Congratulations!

IEEE Medical Technology Conference

The American Medical Association (AMA) and the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology (EMB) Society are pleased to announce that the paper management site will open on 30 June 2011 for submissions to our Second AMA-IEEE Medical Technology Conference: HealthInformation Technology - Delivering on the Promise of Cost Effective Quality Healthcare,in Boston, MA, on October 16-18, 2011 at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel and Towers. The meeting will take place just before the Connected Health Symposium (for more information visit www.connected-health.org).

Please visit http://ama-ieee.embs.org/for more information on the meeting.  There will be a link on the home page where you can submit your abstract and another link to register for the conference. The call for abstract site will be opened until 30 August, 2011. Please invite your colleagues to join you as we look forward to a very lively meeting with interesting discussions and possible solutions to healthcare IT!

The 2011 conference will be devoted to Healthcare IT, a discipline at the intersection of information and computer science, engineering, and healthcare. The conference will examine resources, devices and methods required to optimize the acquisition, storage, retrieval, display, and use of information in health and biomedicine including healthcare informatics applications such as clinical decision support.

We invite participation by healthcare providers, engineers, innovators, industrial leaders, government agencies and policy makers.  The conference will be inaugurated by a keynote lecture at an evening reception on Sunday, October 16. The following two days will feature plenary and poster presentations focusing on the challenges and solutions involving healthcare informatics and quality patient care.

Accepted abstracts may be considered for publication in PULSE or other EMB Transaction Publications.

First IEEE EMBS International Conference on Biomedical and Health Informatics

5-7 January 2012

IEEE-EMBS International Conferences on BIOMEDICAL AND HEALTH INFORMATICS (BHI) started from this year. The BHI2012 will be held in Hong Kong / Shenzhen during 5-7 Jan. 2012.

To be held in conjunction with the 8th International Symposium on Medical Devices and Biosensors and the 7th International Symposium on Biomedical and Health Engineering, the BHI 2012 will be devoted to an inter-disciplinary research area intersecting engineering, information technology and computer science with biology, medicine and health. The conference is to examine enabling technologies of devices and systems that optimize the acquisition, transmission, processing, storage, retrieval (P-STAR) of biomedical and health information as well as to report clinical studies on the novel application of health information systems. The goal of the proposed joint event is to bring together academicians, clinicians, industrial representatives, government and private research agencies and funders to facilitate a dialogue on addressing the theme "Global Grand Challenge on Health Informatics".
