16 Years in Guatemala

July 10th marked our 16th year serving full-time here in Guatemala.  It is very hard to imagine it has been that long even when I look at my girls growing up.  We have experienced God's blessings over the years but the greatest blessings are all of the wonderful friends and disciples we now have in our lives.  We are excited as we are now seeing many that started working with us as mere teenagers that are now married and serving God full-time as pastors and leaders.  We look forward to the next 16 years serving God faithfully wherever He leads!

AMAZED

June was filled with many wonderful things and one of the highlights - Rebekah turned 18!  Can that even be true!  She finished with great success her first semester of college.  The girls had a wonderful camp experience.  We had a great time with our group and with the pastors and leaders from the churches, just so much to be thankful for.  We are amazed constantly to watch what God is doing.  Thank you for being a part of our ministry.  It wouldn't be possible without you

Let the little children come...
We are working on a new project that we would like to present to you.  One of our churches is preparing a place for the children to meet during services.  They moved into a new building at the end of last year, but the building did not have an area for the children.  Just recently, they were able to rent the piece of property adjacent to the building, but it is not ready in its current state.  They are already using the area for the children, but it needs a remodel quickly.  We are in rainy season and that means rain almost daily and the area lacks both floor and roof.  It needs to be cleaned out, divided into classrooms and put in working order.  The project requires about $2000 US to get it started.  That may not sound like much to you, but to this congregation it is huge, but cost aside these little ones deserve a place where they can come and learn about Jesus and His love for them.  Can you help us by sending in a special offering for this project.  You can do so online at www.worldoutreach.org or mailing it in to World Outreach Ministries, PO Box B, Marietta, Georgia 30061.  Please make sure to designate all donations to John & Tracy Batchelor, fund code 28.  Thank you for helping us make this a reality for these precious children.

Camp Guamiski
Ashley & Elizabeth got to go to camp Guamiski this year, one of the benefits their transition to homeschooling has allowed.  Camp Guamiski as it name says (GUA=Guatemala MIS=Missionary KI= Kids) is held each year especially for missionary kids serving in Guatemala. The girls had a wonderful time.  They were around other missionary kids and made lots of new friends and were able to just have some fun as well as receiving the word of God that was taught.  They enjoyed it so much that they came back planning to start their own savings so they can make sure they get to go again next year. What a blessing this was!

Group Trip
June was a jam packed month.  One of the highlights was the group with Pastors Paul & Nancy Glass and several others from the congregation in Georgia.  We spent 12 days visiting and encouraging several of the Word in Action churches as well as visiting with the kids at the Canica orphanage in San Marcos.  It was a wonderful time as each person had the opportunity to share their testimony and experience the work here in Guatemala.  We really enjoyed having everyone down and cannot wait until the next time they are able to come.  A group trip is a wonderful way to familiarize yourself with the work here in Guatemala.  If you would like to be a part of a group trip or sponsor a trip from your church or group please contact us at xelakids@yahoo.com for more information.

Conex-zion 2012
Right after our group left we had the honor and privilege to be with the pastors and leaders of the Word in Action churches from around Guatemala.  It was a great time to connect and encourage one another. Over 200 pastors and leaders were in attendance at this inspiring event.  We enjoy just having time to fellowship with many of them and catch up with what was going on in all of the different churches.  It is humbling to be around so many wonderful men and women of God.

Upcoming Events

On July 21st we will be bringing the kids from the CANICA orphanage here to Xela.  Our plan is to take them to the zoo and out to eat at a kid friendly restaurant and give them a chance to do things they have not done before.  We are really looking forward to this outing with the kids.  We will post pictures on facebook and give a report in our next newsletter.

Thank you!
We never want to end a newsletter without having taken the opportunity to thank you for your support for you ministry.  None of what we do would be possible without your partnership.  May God bless you abundantly for your generosity!
