The Law Firm Vendors Association (LFVA)
is a longtime supporter of KEEN Greater DC. In addition to financial support, many of their members also volunteer at KEEN programs. "We are thrilled to be recognized at this year's event. KEEN is a wonderful organization that is truly making a difference," shared Joe Alvarez, LFVA President.
Alvarez has frequently served as a volunteer coach at KEEN sessions. "I love volunteering at KEEN. The kids are terrific. It is always a great time!"

Maureen's first KEEN session was Sports at Tilden MS in March of 2009. It took her only one session to be charmed by our athletes, and soon after, she took the leading role in coordinating the swim program at Georgetown Prep.
From communicating with parents to preparing the logistics of each session, teaching the JPMF safety rules and working with Georgetown Prep lifeguards, she is always ready for KEEN and our swim teams. Maureen said "I discovered KEEN via the OneBrick website and I'm so grateful I did; so many smiles and good times over the years!"

Plan to join us for the annual KEEN Sports Festival at Hadley's Park in Potomac, MD. This fun-filled day includes an obstacle course, a variety of individual and noncompetitive team activities, soccer with the United for D.C./United Soccer Club coaches, tug of war, face painting, pizza lunch, and much more. The Sports Festival is the one time each year in which we're able to bring together all of our athletes from DC, VA and MD, their families, and volunteers.

Springfield 5K on May 31 to Benefit VA Programs
|
Help kick off the Springfield Days weekend festival by participating in the Springfield 5K Race on Saturday May 31. The race will start and finish at Springfield Town Center and be followed by additional event festivities. Register online by May 23 to take advantage of the early bird rate of $30. Volunteers are also needed for spirit stations, set up and clean up. Email Elizabeth if you are interested in volunteering. A portion of the race proceeds will benefit KEEN's Virginia programs.

6th Annual Bullis Gives Back "Buddy Run"
|
|
This year, KEEN Greater DC athletes were again invited to participate in the 6th Annual Bullis Gives Back "Buddy Run". Nearly fifty young people with special needs were matched with Bullis student buddies, who helped them participate in the walk and many other fun activities. It was delightful to watch how attentive and caring the buddies were. They gave all their attention to the KEEN athletes throughout the event; they were patient, thoughtful and kind to everyone. They took our kids with special needs by the hand or pushed their wheelchairs across the finish line with pride. They were all winners!
It was an unforgettable event that brought lots of smiles and joy to all participants! Thank You BULLIS for opening your school and your hearts to KEEN athletes!!!
