Welcome to our June E-newsletter!
Bonjour from Mazamet !
Mid-summer's day has come and gone, not quite sure were the first half of 2013 has gone but next week July is here and the start of the busiest two-months of the year for us here at La Villa.
During June, on the perfect day of weather, we had the gardens & pool of La Villa re-photographed and we have posted some of the great images on our Facebook page - next month all of the new photos will appear on our website too so keep an eye out.
We have also just completed our new online payment form so guests can now complete their reservation and pay their deposit online a secure page on our website.
The month of July will start to see the Sunday night "Apero" concerts in the bandstand of our nearby park, a pleasant way to spend an hour before dinner back at La Villa - and then from July 8th, the "March? du Producteurs" returns to Mazamet each Monday evening until the end of August - a fantastic event to mingle with the locals and taste food & drinks produced right here in the Tarn.
.... and it would not be July in France without Le Tour de France and for those not with us in person, keep an eye on your TV on Friday 5th as Le Tour has a stage finish in Albi and the following morning, July 6th, departing from Castres!!
Towards the end of July, Mazamet plays host to the annual Rallye du Montagne Noire - 250 rally cars on view in our nearby park and, for the 4th year running, we host team Subaru based in the Haut Savoie department of France.
We hope that you enjoy our June E-Newsletter - we have a competition to win a set of luxury bath towels; a recipe for banana bread.... and a great route over the Montagne Noire for those landing in Carcassonne.
Thanks for reading, following us on Twitter & liking us on Facebook - it is very much appreciated.

We started to serve individual home made banana bread on our breakfast buffet this spring and, to coin a phrase, they are going like hot cakes! If you do not have small individual cake moulds, you can use this recipe to make in one load tin.
Ingredients (for six servings)
4 very ripe bananas
285 grams of plain flour
1 teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda
1/2 teaspoon of salt
110 grams of soften butter
225 grams caster sugar
85 ml of milk
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
Beat the butter and sugar together using an electric mixer until pale & fluffy. In a separate bowl sift the flour, salt & bicarb. In another bowl mash the bananas and add the eggs, vanilla extract & milk.
Pour the banana mix into the butter/sugar mix and beat for 30 seconds, then finally fold in the flour (I also add 1 tablespoon of poppy seeds for texture).
Spoon the mixture into a loaf tin that you have lined with greaseproof paper and cook in a pre-heated oven (180 degrees) for around an hour (if using the individual tins, 25 mins is fine and I top each one with a slice of dried banana).
Allow to cool on wire rake in the tin(s) and then remove - they will (if you can resist eating them!) keep in an air-tight tin for up to 5 days and can also be frozen.
Win a set of luxury towels
So many people comment on our fluffy white towels here at La Villa so wouldn't it be nice to own your own set ?
Well, we are giving away a set (two bath towels, two hand towels and two flannels) PLUS a complete set of L'Occitane en Provence verbena Shampoo, Conditioner, Shower Gel & Soap in our July competition.
To enter, Email with the answer to the following question - if you stayed in Deluxe bedroom or Deluxe Suite at La Villa, what would the size of your bathroom be? (tip - a visit to our website may help )
Answers must be received by July 15th 2013; all correct answers will be entered into a draw to take place July 16th and the winner will be informed by email and announced in our August E-Newsletter.

Scenic Route from Carcassonne Airport to La Villa
Even taking the direct route from Carcassonne to La Villa is a stunning one but with many flights arriving in the morning, make your holiday start the moment you leave the airport and take the road less travelled to Mazamet through some of the fascinating villages of the Montagne Noire.
From the car rental car park you will exit onto a main round about, take the direction towards Carcassonne and you will pass back along the airport itself - continue until you reach another main roundabout and you want to take the third exit, signed "Autres Directions" D6161 - continue on this until a large roundabout and take the third exit signed for Pezens onto the D6113.
Continue on this road for a few kilometres and keep an eye out for a right hand turn shortly after you pass Pezens, this will be the D69 and signed for Montolieu which is a village with a number of antique book shops, park and have a wonder around.
Leave Montolieu on the D629 heading for Saissac - this is a medieval village and you can wander down the steep street to view the remains of the Cathar Chateau that (on a clear day) has a wonderful view of the Pyrenees.
Leaving Saissac, turn onto the D103 - after you pass through the village of Saint Denis it may become the D62 (very typical in France for road numbers to change!) - you will then keep heading for Cuxac Cabardes where you will pick up the main road to Mazamet (D118) turning left onto this road from where you can follow the directions here on our website Directions
(if your return flight is later in the day, this route works equally well in reverse!)
We look forward to welcoming new guests and old friends to La Villa de Mazamet during 2013. As always - please get in touch with us via Email
if you would like any further information, rates or to check availability; you can also keep up to date via our Website
Please remember, if you have time, to forward onto a friend, like us on Facebook
