July 2018

As we enter into July, we are trying to get the most out of our summer. Although the heat is difficult to stand, we are staying busy indoors and enjoying air conditioned outings.

In July, we will be visiting Yotopia Frozen Yogurt, Pelican's SnoBalls, Artsy Me, Regal Cinemas, Cici's Pizza and Cracker Barrel. We will also be continuing our Summer Creation Series where we will be tie dying shirts, celebrating Christmas in July, designing picture frames and baking.

As we get closer to September, be looking for information about Assisted Living Week. Our family event is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, September 11 from 5:30 - 7:00, so mark your calendars now! More information will be going out soon. We are also preparing for the Alzheimer's walk which will be held on Saturday, November 3. We hope that you are able to join us as we walk to support Alzheimer's research and support the vision of a world without Alzheimer's Disease!

Alzheimer's Walk

It is that time of year again! We have begun our preparations for the Walk to End Alzheimer's. Each year thousands of people join together in Augusta to walk together to raise money for research in hopes of finding a cure to this cruel disease.

Please join us in this year's Walk to End Alzheimer's on Saturday, November 3rd. It will be held at the Columbia County Amphitheater with registration starting at 10:00am and the opening ceremony and walk following at 11:00am. To join and /or donate, please click the below link.

We hope to see you all there to show your support for fighting this devastating disease.

Support Group
A support group led by a Madison Heights staff member meets the third Thursday of each month at 2:00 at the Alzheimer's Association. If this date or time is not convenient for you contact Beth at the Alzheimer's Association at (706) 860-4599 for information on additional support groups.

All family members or caregivers of someone with a dementia diagnosis are welcome to attend. Don't forget to invite others who you think would benefit from additional support.
The Longest Day
On June 21 we celebrated The Longest Day which is a day that the Alzheimer's Association uses to bring awareness and fundraise for Alzheimer's disease. Our residents had a great time with the balloons they sent!
