Breastfeeding Initiative Launched
This summer the Women's Center launched the "Breastfeeding Welcomed Here" initiative -- an innovative, low-cost solution to the ubiquitous problem. Time after time, Women's Center staff heard from new mothers across the institution who struggled to breastfeeding-friendly space after returning to across campus. The Breastfeeding Welcomed Here initiative highlights departments, offices, and individual staff members who welcome and support breastfeeding moms, and in turn make Vanderbilt a more family-friendly institution. Participation is free, and everyone is welcome to join. For more information, please contact Katie Garcia, program coordinator. |
Provost's Initiative Focused on Gender, Sexuality, and other "Human Identities"
This fall, the Office of the Provost launches a year-long series of events, lectures, and programs entitled "Human Identities: Global, Local, Personal," in conjunction with the Commons Reading 2012 (Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn's book Half the Sky: Turning Oppression Into Opportunity for Women Worldwide) and the exhibition Long Story Bit by Bit: Liberia Retold by Tim Hetherington. This campus-wide initiative is designed to raise a nuanced dialogue about gender and sexuality across the Vanderbilt community. For more information about upcoming events or how to get involved, visit the Human Identities website.
