This and That...
Mobile devices present publishers with complexities that mainstream developers don't have to deal with. Besides the multiple form factors, there are other issues such as Trans-coding and content issues to consider - using existing content in a mobile site does not work that well. In the Did You Know section below, you can find some interesting statistics about the mobile market.
I've recently been helping Intesource.com with their SEO strategy, and also developed a custom search behavior model that reflects how businesses search for their products and services. You can read more about them in the Company Spotlight below.
For you data gurus, during the past five years I've consulted with many companies that routinely use the terms Taxonomy and Ontology interchangeably. They are very different beasts- here is how to tell them apart.
And for something completely different - Doc Watson, the extraordinary flat picker pass away at the age of 89. If you have never heard this man's music before - you should give it a listen, it's very tasteful stuff. This is a good place to start.

Company Spotlight
Are random acts of efficiency hurting your bottom line?
In any business, everyone is all about efficient spend. Everyone, right?
Most leaders truly believe they have the best possible cost available to them - "Yeah, there are a lot of places this company could save, but not in our group. We've cut as much as we can."
Spend management is a huge cultural hurdle for most businesses. It's challenging to motivate leadership to address efficiency opportunities in their own space. Why? Because every leader believes A) they've cut all that they can and B) their critical partner relationships have very little room for negotiation.
How much is this costing you? How much better could your profits be?
At Intesource, we help our clients take a reasonable, sustainable approach to spend. We've designed a measurably better system to approach spend - from commodity products to services and everything between. We'll show you how.

SearchEngineLand - Column: Search & Retail
ET by Mark Sprague
This continues the analysis presented in the MicroData Not Ready For Primetime article previously published. Here, I break down the MicroData hierarchy into three levels so marketing professionals can review each category to see what value it can bring to future marketing, content and SEO initiatives.
When you look at the type schema you see close to 300 metadata elements that can describe various entities (called Things here).
There is a lot of specificity in a few categories such as Local Businesses, Civic Structures and Events. Two of these categories have real implications for local and mobile SEO because of the richness of the metadata.
You can finish the article at Search Engine Land.
