Michelle has been studying Boutis and other Provencal traditions for 20 years, and can't wait to return to her childhood home to share what she's learned with all of us!
Boutis (which means "stuffing"), describes how two layers of fabric are quilted together with stuffing sandwiched between sections of the design, creating a raised effect.

Colten Allison and his family called Mary's Quilt Shop and asked if we would make a quilt from the pillowcases that Colten collected from his visits to Pittsburgh Children's Hospital for cancer treatments. Colten and his family did not know that
our own Doris has volunteered for Ryan's Case for Smiles for 10 years and delivers 400 pillowcases a month to Pittsburgh Children's Hospital. She most likely delivered the pillowcases that Ryan collected.
Doris was overwhelmed and speechless.
She made the quilt for Colten.
This photo is of Doris and Colten when he came to the shop to pick-up the quilt.
Thank You Doris for your dedication and effort to
Ryan's Case For Smiles and the Allison Family.
We Love You!
Ryan's Case for Smiles is dedicated to helping children with life-changing illnesses feel better to heal better. They
are a charitable organization that makes pillowcases for children with life-threatening illnesses.
Your participation in this outreach is encouraged. We have local groups that gather and sew. If you don't sew we need cutters and other helpers. You can also make the pillow cases on your own and drop them off at the shop.
Please contact Doris Caldwell for more information.

Knitted Knockers are special handmade breast prosthesis for women who have undergone mastectomies or other procedures to the breast.
Traditional breast prosthetics are usually expensive, heavy, sweaty, and uncomfortable; they typically require special bras or camisoles with pockets, and can't be worn for weeks
after surgery. However, Knitted Knockers are soft, comfortable, beautiful, and take the shape and feel of a real breast - just place in a regular bra!
Special volunteer knitters provide these FREE to those who request them. Join in to help connect volunteer knitters with breast cancer survivors! There is a huge demand for Knitted Knockers that can't be met by any one group, but together we can do it!
