Remember that this Sunday is not only the last part of our "Just Walk Across the Room" Sermon Series, but we have our Backpack Blessing in all three services! After the 11:00 service, there will be a meeting about all of our Youth & Children's ministries as well.

"Hi Church Friends!
Wow! Fall is approaching. Schools are back in session. Routine is returning.
The sermon series "Just Walk Across the Room" wraps up this Sunday, August 25. We have heard how we are called to be Christ-followers who leave our Circles of Comfort and enter the Zone of the Unkown. We follow the Holy Spirit's leading and walk to make connections with new people.
We have been asked to live in 3D: Develop friendships, stories, and discern next steps. We are thinking of what our story is. How were we before Jesus and how are we different after Jesus."

Children & Youth Opportunities

On August 25, following the "Backpack Blessing" in worship, you may register your child or youth in grades 1-12 for several fun, fellowship and service opportunities that begin in September! Parents are invited to hear about the programs at noon in Room 9/11 while kids and youth enjoy crafts, games, and sports at the shelter. Pizza will be served to both parents
and youth!

Exciting New Changes are coming to the Children's & Youth
Ministry Wing! Classrooms & halls are being painted, and at the same time, both ministries are putting finishing touches on their overall programming. Pictures of the murals are being framed, and will be showcased in the library.

Introducing: Coordinator of Connect/Equip Ministries

Mary Ellen Telling has agreed to lead a new ministry that we are calling "Connect/Equip Ministries." She will lead a team of people who will focus on helping newcomers learn about the wide variety of ministries we offer at MUMC and where they may want to get plugged in. Mary Ellen is developing an intentional process of follow-up so that everyone can get connected as quickly as they choose! We want every newcomer to know how glad we are that they want to know more about living as a follower of Jesus!

MUMC Book Club will meet the first Wednesday mornings of the month @ 10:30 in Library, beginning Sept. 4th.
Our first discussion will be on the novel, The Light Between Oceans, by M. L. Stedman.

| The FIRST Annual MUMC Tailgate Party! | |
This fall, we are starting a new annual event that we are hosting right here in our parking lot! Before the first home Mason High School Football game, there will be a tailgate party! Here are some of the details:
Date: Friday, September 6 Time: 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. Open and Free to the Community Food, games and fun!
We would like families to attend starting at 5 p.m. to help draw a crowd, as well as donate a side dish for 12 to share along with 2 dozen cookies. The side dishes can be delivered Thursday night to the church, or be brought on Friday. Help will also be needed with cleanup.

A Walk Through the Book of Acts:
Faith that Changes the World
A short term adult Bible study beginning Monday,
September 9th.
Peggy Graham will be leading this course on Monday mornings from 9 - 10:30
A Disciple's Path:
Deepening Your Relationship with Christ and the Church
A six week session for perspective church members and anyone interested in taking the next step in discipleship and becoming a more dynamic engaged follower of Jesus Christ.
Dave Doster will be leading this group beginning the week of September 9th. The tentative day and time is Tuesday evenings at 6 pm. Other evenings and starting times will be considered if there is a conflict.

We need walkers, bike riders, strollers, skateboards, etc... Everyone is to wear RED, white & black Times to come. We need folks to work the Festival Booth, greeting, making & handing out popcorn - that will be ALL DAY Saturday!!

| Sarah's Sisters Circle Bible Study | |
Sarah's Sisters will be starting up again on Tuesday, September 10. All women are invited and encouraged to join us for discussion, fellowship, and breakfast! We meet on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month, Sept-May, from 9:30-11:00 am. Free childcare is provided. This year we will be studying Beth Moore's book on Esther. MUMC 2013-2014 Confirmation Program
Confirmation classes will begin Sunday, Sept.15th. All incoming 7th graders, and older students, are invited to participate in this program.
Confirmation is the continuation of one's faith journey and the beginning of one's covenant relationship with the church.
Registration forms will be available in the church office. An informational meeting will be held for students and their parents/guardians on Sunday, August 25th,following the 11:00 AM service. For further information, contact Deb Griffiths at [email protected].

Mason UMC will begin its first year hosting Upward Basketball K & 1st Grade Teams!
Practices begin theweek of December 2 on Mon & Wed nights in the MMR. Games will be each Saturday from Jan 11 through March 1, 2014 from 8 am to Noon.
