Emily Birsan (District Winner 2010)
Emily will sing a concert on September 16th with the Liverpool Royal Philharmonic and Sir Andrew Davis. She will sing an aria from Dvorak's Rusalka and songs of Gershwin and Weil.
Emily is happy to be recreating the role of Ruby Thewes in Jennifer Higdon and Gene Scheer's Cold Mountain with North Carolina Opera. Emily sang the role of a Ruby for the world premiere in Santa Fe, a performance which went on to receive two Grammy Nominations. Performances will be September 28th and October 1st.
Alisa Jordheim (District Winner 2011 and 2012)
Alisa will portray the role of Ruth Maier (considered "Norway's Anne Frank") in the premiere performance of "Letters from Ruth," a new musical by Norwegian composer-librettist team Gisle Kverndokk and Aksel-Otto Bull. The performance is presented by the New York Opera Society and will be at the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC on September 24 at 3:30 PM.
Tim Rebers (2011 Encouragement Award Winner and now a tenor!)
Tim, along with Saira Frank and Allison Hull, will be performing a concert of Opera arias and ensembles, and Italian songs, at the Italian Community Center in the Third Ward on Wednesday September 6th, from 7:00-8:30pm.
Tim will also be performing a concert of songs and arias entitled "Heroes, Myths, and Legends" at the Steinway Gallery of Milwaukee on September 20th at Noon as part of their "Steinway and Sandwich" series.
Joshua Sanders (Encouragement Winner 2016)
Joshua joins the Teatro Regio di Torino as a resident artist for the 2017/18 season after winning the Opera Foundation's Amber Capital Scholarship.
He begins the season singing the role of Der Hirte in Tristan und Isolde.
Christiaan Smith (Participant 2009)
Christiaan sings a classical recital at Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall this Nov. 18th. The recital features his own art song arrangements of selections from American top 40 radio and is entitled SONGS WE KNOW: when hits become art.
