Newsletter
Here we go.  The board is already deep in the planning stages of the 2012 season.  Once again, there will be changes to how things are done.  Some subtle, some bold.  As always, we try to have the kids best interest at heart. We are here for them.

Registration

The registration forms are almost done and you will be able to download them from the website soon.  Online registrations will be available around the same time.  Things are going to be a little different this season.  We will NO LONGER ACCEPT registrations for the Minors, Major 60, and Major 70 divisions at the tryouts.  These three divisions MUST be registered by December 31st.  Between January 1st and January 11th you will be charged a $25 late registration fee.  No registrations will be accepted after January 11th.  The reason for this change is simple.  We need to know how many kids will be playing so we know how many coaches we need.  For Babe Ruth, Rookies, and T-ball... your registrations will be extended.  More information on these divisions will be forthcoming.

Board Positions

This will officially be my last year as president.  We need someone special to fill this position for next year.  New volunteers are needed to fill the ranks of the board.  This league is nothing without its volunteers.  Be a part of something special and sign up today!  Don't worry.  I will stay on the board as the Website Coordinator and help you along the way.

Babe RuthLonghorns

We will once again offer Babe Ruth for ages 13 - 15.  Our goal is to have multiple teams this year giving the kids post-season opportunities.  Doug McKoon and David Engle are busy working on getting the particulars worked out with this division.  You can visit the MRBA BABE RUTH website to stay updated with information.

Coaches

I know you have other sports on your mind right now.  Football is ending and basketball is going to start soon.  Please keep in mind that the first coaches meeting will be in December sometime.  I suspect that most coaches will be returning.  Please send me an email with your coaching intent for the season.

Fundraising (from Tina Rosenthal)

Welcome to the planning portion of the 2012 baseball season.  As you may already know we have created a very successful "Fundraising Committee."   Working together to brainstorm different ideas can only bring more success to the league.

Last year, I had the honor of working closely with a wonderful group of talented women.  We were able to raise $21,000 dollars as a team.

Not only was it successful, it was fun!! We hold most of our meetings either at my home or at a local restaurant and enjoy dinner together while sharing all of our wonderful ideas.

Because of the many connections our group had last year we were able to have many of our auction supplies donated.  Thus, saving the league money and in return putting more towards league expenses.

I understand that we all work.  We all have busy lives and joining a board is probably the last thing you want to do.  By helping on the fundraising committee you are not asked to be a board member.  We only ask that you be willing to donate a bit of time towards planning our seasons fundraisers.

Because of the many compliments and financial success of our auction and flower basket sales, that is our focus, as of now.  If you have any other ideas we would love to hear them.

Last year, for our auction, we were able to designate a task to each person.  This made it easy on each and every one of us.

MRBA is growing by leaps and bounds each year.  It's always fun to hear new ideas and see new faces. If you think this might be something you would be interested in please e-mail me.  tkrosenthal@comcast.net

I apologize for not having this information sooner.  Expect to find a newsletter in your email at least once per month from now on.  Please consider taking a board position this year.  Also, consider the president's spot for next year so we can keep this amazing babeball league strong and growing.

Sincerely,

Tony Rosenthal
