from Owen LaFave, The Bank of Tampa
NAIOP has hit the ground running in 2016! The Superheros of Commercial Real Estate were announced in January at the Best of the Best industry awards, February brought us to the Tamp
a Yacht Club to hear about the construction process for the new marina, and in March we experienced Tampa's newest treasure, Davidoff's of Geneva Cigar Bar at MetWest. We are thrilled to welcome 14 new members since the beginning of the year! Looking ahead, we have excellent events planned for you including a new program on Emerging Architectural Trends, a "Lunch with Legends" panel and a top-secret program in May that we hope to reveal in the coming weeks. Additionally, several of our signature programs are back and better than ever. If you have not already done so, I invite you to sign-up a team for the 6th Annual Sporting Clays Tournament on April 15. Many organizations now have these, but we do it better than anyone. During the event, over 100 of your business colleagues and friends enjoy an on-site fish fry by Love's Artifacts, receive top-notch raffle prizes including firearms and Yeti products as well as a chance to come out and shoot some clay pigeons. A few spots remain for team sponsorships, so sign-up today!
I'm excited and honored to work with the 2016 Executive Committee and Board to bring you an outstanding member experience this year and continue to make NAIOP the best commercial real estate organization in Tampa Bay! If you are not currently a NAIOP member, there has never been a better time to get involved. Please contact our executive director, Kelsey Bokor at
for more information on joining NAIOP. We look forward to seeing you at a NAIOP event soon!

MOBILITY FEE PROPOSALS
On April 20th, The Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners is seeking to replace impact fees and transportation concurrency requirements with new mobility fees - fees that can be used on various other transportation expenditures beyond increasing roadway capacity. These new fees will likely result in significantly increased costs for new construction, although measures are proposed that would greatly incentivize targeted office and industrial development. The County has conducted many focus group discussions with industry on various components of the proposed mobility fee plan and NAIOP Tampa Bay has been an active participant in these discussions. If you would like additional information on the status of the latest mobility fee proposals, please contact Todd Josko at
