NYCPM Welcomes Class of 2018 with

Harbor Cruise, Orientation and White Coat Ceremony

  

The Class of 2018 has arrived at NYCPM and the College has gone all out to give the students a warm and wonderful welcome.

                First, a cruise aboard the Bateaux took the Class around the harbor to the Statue of Liberty and featured a lovely sit-down luncheon.  Then, the Class' orientation included introductions to the administration and the president of the APMA, Frank Spinosa, DPM (80). In order to provide the broadest and most inclusive educational experiences possible for its students, as well as excellent patient care, the New York College of Podiatric Medicine has forged affiliations with hospitals and universities across New York City and the globe.

Vice Chairman of the Board: Gabriel P. Caprio, 

MBA, LHD

Vice Chairman of the Board Gabriel P. Caprio, MBA, LHD, joined the Board as a Trustee in March 2010, and became Vice Chairman in July 2014. Mr. Caprio's career has focused on banking: he was President and CEO of Amalgamated Bank from 1991 to 2006, and served briefly as Interim CEO for the Bank from late 2013 to 2014. He has also worked for Chase, Chemical and Citibank, and is a past Chairman of the New York Bankers Association. He serves on a number of Boards of nonprofits.  He received an honorary degree from NYCPM at the 2014 graduation in May.

 

 

NYCPM Alumni Relations Moving Forward!

The new Alumni Relations Association met on September 10th and immediately began discussing and planning how the College can better serve its graduates and students. Publications and Posters

Healing a Complicated Wound Using a Multivalent Silver Nanoparticle Gel, a poster by fourth-year student Adam Falivene, and Anthony R. Iorio, DPM, MPH, FACWCA (Associate Professor and Chair, Department of Community Health and Medicine; Assistant Dean for Continuing Medical Education) took third place at the American Podiatric Medical Association Annual  Meeting held in July in Hawaii.

Haber Elected NBPME President, Eckles Named to Board

Congratulations to Jonathan Haber, DPM ('74), Chair of the Admissions Committee, Professor Emeritus of Surgical Sciences and Associate Dean for Special Academic Projects, on his election as president of the prestigious National Board of Podiatric Medical Examiners (NBPME), and to Robert A. Eckles, DPM, Associate Professor of Orthopedic Sciences and Dean of Clinical Education and Graduate Medical Education, who was named to the NBPME Board.
