48TH BASIC LAW ENFORCEMENT TRAINING
ACADEMY GRADUATES RECOGNIZED
 
Cadets from Nash Community College's 48th Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) Academy wer e recognized for completion on Tuesday, March 7, 2017. The training program includes physical and classroom state commission mandated topics and methods of instruction covering topics such as criminal, juvenile, civil, traffic, and alcohol beverage laws, investigative, patrol, custody, and court procedures, emergency responses, ethics, community relations and more.  For more information about the program, contact BLET Coordinator Adam Gelo at 252-451-8298 or [email protected].

NCC SUPPORTS COMMUNITIES IN SCHOOLS

NCC employees supported Dine Out for Communities in Schools on  Thursday, March 16.

Nash Community College hosted eighth grade Communities in Schools students Tuesday, March 21 for a College Prep Retreat where the children learned what it takes to be successful "on and off the field." Attending class regularly, having positive behavior skills and scoring in the classroom are the top plays students learned. Special guest speakers included retired NFL Player and President of Holt Brothers, Inc., Terrence Holt; CJ Wilson of the Chicago Bears; Kelvin Bryant, retired Washington Redskins player; Jolly Manning, former Harlem Globetrotter and ABA basketball player; motivational speaker and NCC alumnus Jabarius Walker; Stephan Virgil; NCC Fire and Rescue Coordinator and Instructor Willie Kearney; NCC Associate Dean of Enrollment Management Dr. Daniel Wilson; Rocky Mount High School football coach Jason Battle; and Jermaine Jones of Rocky Mount. CIS eleventh graders also joined later in the day for a College Fair which included 18 colleges and universities as well as US Military representatives.
