Dear Friends of Noah's Ark,
Since our last newsletter two weeks ago, so many things have happened at Noah's Ark. We received a call from a stall owner in Johor asking to help an injured dog that was infested with maggot wounds because of a dog fight. We would like to thank the diner for taking the initiative to inform and educate the stall owner to seek medical treatment for the dog.
Noah's Ark ABC Clinic
At Noah's Ark ABC Clinic we provide low cost medical aid for street dogs and cats and we strongly advocate early age neutering to control and prevent unwanted puppies and kittens from being born on the streets. To find out what the diner did to help the dog please click here.
Street Rescue
With so many stray dogs on the streets, feeders are trying their best to sterilize as many dogs as they can to control the population, there is so much one can do with limited resources.
Noah's Ark Project Industrial Dogs objective is to sterilize the dogs in industrial area with caregivers taking care of the dogs - caregivers are classified as the employees, workers, security guards who provide shelter and food for the dogs. This is the only way to control the animal population and to stop the breeding.
Sometimes it hurts the caregivers to see injured dogs - can they turn their backs on them? If we see a dog or a cat in distress, naturally it is our intent to act and to help.
In the last couple of days, we rescued two female dogs that contracted Transmissible Venereal Tumour Transmissible Venereal Tumour (TVT) and Kenny a factory dog that was sleeping under a forklift when the worker started the engine and accidentally rolled onto his front left paw. The worker tried to self medicate the dog, unfortunately it got worst - thankfully a rescuer saw the dog and provided the necessary aid for Kenny by taking him to the vet.
The three dogs are now receiving medical treatment, to support and read about their plight please click here.
Helping animals is never ending and there is never a day when we can sit down and have a nice cup of tea - we are always on the go attending to their medical aid.
At the sanctuary, every evening our clinic sees at least 20 dogs and cats a day - from accident victims to our aging residents that require medical treatment and special care.
In order to keep our work and energy going, without our sponsors' support, we would not have been able to help so many animals. We are eternally grateful to our sponsors for helping all creatures great and small.
World Animal Day
In October many animal welfare organisations around the world will be celebrating World Animal Day.
World Animal Day was started in 1931 at a convention of ecologists in Florence as a way of highlighting the plight of endangered species. 4 October was chosen as World Animal Day as it is the Feast Day of St Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals.
Since then, World Animal Day has become a day for remembering and paying tribute to all animals and the people who love and respect them. It's celebrated in different ways in every country, with no regard to nationality, religion, faith or political ideology.
It's a day to:
- To celebrate animal life in all its forms
- To celebrate humankind's relationship with the animal kingdom
- To acknowledge the diverse roles that animals play in our lives - from being our companions, supporting and helping us, to bringing a sense of wonder into our lives
- To acknowledge and be thankful for the way in which animals enrich our lives
Noah's Ark will be celebrating World Animal Day, we have events lined up to raise funds for our residents.

Noah's Ark Tour & Lok Lok Dinner: Saturday, 12 October
For the first time, Noah's Ark will be organizing a fund raising Lok Lok dinner under the stars at the sanctuary.
Some may not know what Lok Lok is. Lok Lok is also called satay celup and served with spicy peanut sauce. Lok Lok is cooked using boiling water like steam boat and it used to be cooked on a push cart - but today it is cooked on a van. This really bring back memories of the good old days which we don't see in Singapore.
Only at Noah's Ark in JB - we can turn back the clock to 1960s, it is back to basics and to be with mother nature.
We hope that you can join us on this journey to celebrate with our animals.

Animal Communication Workshop:
2 to 10 November
Animals have emotions and feelings like you and me - have you ever wondered what is on your pet's mind? What food does he like? Why does he misbehave?
Animal Communication can strengthen the bond between you and your pet, taking human-animal understanding and empathy to another level. It gives you greater insight into your companion animal, allows you to see the world from their prospective and can be a life saving skill to help.
Rosie Maria Arquatia a great friend of Noah's Ark will be in Singapore from 2 to 10 November to conduct the Animal Communication workshops.
For details of her workshop in Singapore please click here or email.
Thank you.
