Northminster Friends,
As we continually make plans to worship and fellowship with our brothers and sisters in Christ at Calvary, one proposal that came up in recent weeks was instead of having two services throughout the summer months, we worship together for six weeks from July 2 to August 6. As we have talked about this plan with our worship committee, Session and with people in leadership at Calvary, we have found a strong interest in worshiping together, but it now looks as though the only way this plan will work out is for us to worship together at 9:30 instead of at 10:30.
This brings me to my question for all of you. How would you, the members of Northminster, feel about changing our worship time from 10:30 to 9:30 for the six weeks from July 2 to August 6? While the decision to change our worship time is ultimately up to the Session, I think I speak for everyone on the Session when I say that we would be interested in knowing how you feel about this.
I would like to urge all of you to respond to this question by emailing Barb Harwell at barb.harwell@northminsterlife.org by the end of the day on
Wednesday, June 14.
As a matter of courtesy, since Barb will obviously be receiving a lot of emails on this question, I think it would be helpful to her if you could please keep your remarks as brief as possible. For example, if you could simply say "I would be in favor of a 9:30 worship time" or "I would be opposed to a 9:30 worship time" that would be ideal.
Thanks so much for your input in this matter as together we seek the best ways to worship and serve God with our friends at Calvary.
Blessings in Christ,
Pastor Rich

DEVOTION OF THE WEEK
by Bruce Swaffield in Memoriam
|
|
Being Filled With God's Love
Pride. Prejudice. Anger. Condemnation and judgment. We must empty ourselves completely of all these things and let God fill us with his love and grace.
If we are even the least bit full of ourselves--our views, our righteousness, our opinions, or or thinking--God cannot and will not be able to fill us with his perfect desire and will. He has made us for his glory and we are part of his divine plan. God wants the world to see him and know him through us.
When we bend down to help someone, when we give away our time to one who needs it more, when we go out of our way to comfort those who are suffering then we are following Christ's example. We are showing his love to others.
There is nothing greater we can do with our life than to display God's love wherever we are. The only way to do this is to be completely filled with his fullness.
