Greetings!

News from Groundhog Central at Oak Hammock Marsh.

No Shadow was seen!

Spring is on its way!

Manitoba Merv came out this morning at sunrise and looked around briefly.

He looked and looked and looked some more but no shadow was seen!

Much to the surprise of the staff at Oak Hammock Marsh, he quickly made his annual prediction and said :

In spite of a cold and snowy winter, Manitobans will have an early spring this year!

As Merv hurried back to his den he assured us that spring will come sooner rather than later and he expects the geese to officially mark the arrival of spring.

Today also marks an important date for Oak Hammock Marsh as it is also World Wetlands Day, a celebration of the importance of wetlands around the world.

The Oak Hammock Marsh Interpretive Centre will celebrate this event with guided snowshoe hikes, special presentations and of course, "ShuffleDuck!"

For more information about Manitoba Merv and World Wetlands Day, give us a call at (204) 467- 3300.

The Oak Hammock Marsh Interpretive Centre is located 20 minutes north of Winnipeg on highway 67 between highways #7 and #8. For more information call (204) 467-3300.
