Our Lady of Fatima Parish School

 Welcome to OLF

News from OLF

PrincipalWe are happy to report that after reviewing many qualifying applicants, the Principal Search Committee has selected several to interview.  We have conducted our first round of interviews and will be meeting some of the candidates again to learn more about them.  We have identified key characteristics and skills necessary for a principal here at OLF.  The committee developed questions around these key components for the interviews.

At this time, Fr. Jack and Sally Todd, Associate Superintendent of Catholic Schools for the Diocese of Orange, are following up on references.  We will continue to keep you informed of our progress.

Please continue to keep us in your prayers that we may be guided by the Holy Spirit in our search.

Deadline to RSVP to the OLF Auction

auction Today is the deadline to RSVP to the OLF Auction.   May we please ask you to turn in your RSVP cards no later than tomorrow to the school clinic?
While we appreciate any reply via email, we are in need of all the RSVP's to be returned one way or the other, as we are interested in knowing your seatmate preferences, and the cards are our tracking system for that.  We are currently working on seating arrangements, and cannot proceed further without a complete headcount.

We are hopeful that you can all attend the auction, as it is a fabulous evening for all.

We look forward to your RSVP cards.  Thank you in advance.

Not sure whether to go to the auction?

UNSOLICITED from Caylin Wade, mom of Kate in 2nd grade

Personal Note

On a personal note ...

This year, Gary and I will be attending the OLF auction for the 6th time.   When we went to the first auction we were invited by friends of ours that had children at OLF.  We were reluctant at first.  We knew only a few people outside of the family that invited us.  We had never been to an auction and were a little (maybe a lot) intimidated.  An "Auction" means that you have to spend a lot of money, (and get a bidding number - what the heck do I do with this???) mingle and talk to people that you don't know and aren't comfortable with and you would prefer to be in the comfort of your own home.  Why in the world would I go to an "Auction"?

(so the above scenario is basically me - I like being at home, don't necessarily care to be around people I don't know and definitely don't want to feel pressured to buy anything)

So Gary and I decided to give it a chance and we discovered that........
1.       You definitely don't have to buy anything and it's fun to walk around and check out the silent auction items.  Your bidding number is........ JUST a number.  You don't have to use it.  Or, write it down on the bid sheet for something you really think you'd enjoy.  If you've never participated in a live auction then just go to the auction for the experience.  It's fun to watch.
2.      You can sit at your table and be polite and maybe chat with the people sitting next to you.  (and in the end, you decide they might be someone you would talk to again)
3.      One year, after we were familiar with the "auction thing", I found it very fun and exciting to walk around the silent auction items, write my bid number on the bid sheet, and then wait, wait, wait to see if I actually won it.  Are you kidding me?......I got a round of golf for 4 at an amazing course for $200!!  Or amazing artwork, a family portrait, a signed baseball, a boat tour, whatever your fancy, the auction has it.
4.      The tickets were already paid for.  All we needed was a sitter and OLF offers childcare.  (It's the same this year too.)
5.      We had experienced an auction in an atmosphere that was unpretentious, casual, non-threatening and in the end, COMFORTABLE and FUN.

I hope to see you there and if this is your first auction experience, or you're wavering on whether to go or not, take the chance, sit back and enjoy what the evening has to offer you.   No pressure at all.

I hope to see you there.
Sincerely,
Caylin Wade
