Fall Into Fun! Pearce 4 Kids and Pearce Church Children's Ministries will together be hosting our annual Fall Into Fun event on Monday, October 31 in our Family Life Center (better known to your children as "the big gym"). Families will enjoy games, crafts, three inflatable bounce houses (one just for preschoolers), food, fun, and of course, CANDY! Come as you are or come (children and adults) dressed as your favorite, non-scary and non-violent, character. There is no sign up or fee for this event but if you would like to help by donating a bag of candy you may drop that off at the receptionist desk any time between now and October 21.

LINKED WITH LOVE: P4K Partnership with Nzige Preschool in Rwanda
We recently received an updated picture of Rosine, our sponsored child in Nzige, Rwanda, and a letter from her mother. Rosine missed some school at the end of last school year due to illness with malaria. She is better now and back in school. Her mother writes:

"I greet you in the name of Jesus Christ. I thank you for your commitment to support Rosine and help the whole family. You really love our family. We love you too and we constantly pray for you. Rosine is healthy and she is doing well at school. God be with you."

Rosine will be 6 in December. P4K sponsors Rosine and supports her schooling. Two P4K staff, Lydia Monroe & Sue Smout, have had the opportunity to go to Rwanda in the past year and visit Rosine and her family as well as the Nzige Free Methodist Preschool! To learn more about our partnership with the Nzige Free Methodist Preschool see the article in the Quick Links above. 

Ways we have raised funds to pay for the $30/month sponsorship in the past year:
  1. We have turned in Labels for Education and "purchased" VISA cards with those labels which we have used to help cover the monthly cost.
  2. P4K Classes have had coin drives and raised money for the sponsorship.
  3. P4K staff have donated money to help with the sponsorship and/or give special gifts (Christmas, birthday, etc.) to Rosine.
  4. Our KidsStuff Coupon book fundraising drive profit will help cover some of the sponsorship.
  5. We have had children who, on their own initiative, have saved pennies and donated them to help Rosine go to school.
  6. Some families have voluntarily donated funds specifically for Rosine's sponsorship.
Each teacher has a picture of Rosine in their classroom and tries to help the children "get to know her" and her culture. It's a fun way to learn about a child in another part of the world as well as participate in giving a little to help another child a lot! We look forward to watching Rosine grow up in the coming years!

Each month during the school year Pearce Church hosts a Family Fun Night with games created for all ages in mind. This is a great time to for families to have fun together, playing games in which everyone may participate no matter how old or young, big or small, skilled or not! The first Family Fun Night of the school year will be held on  Friday, October 7 , from 7:00 pm - 8:30pm in the Family Life Center. The game of Battleship will come to life with ships to position and "cannonballs" to launch. (Swimsuits and life jackets are not needed!) Parents with kids of all ages are invited to this evening of fun. (Parents must stay with their children.) Contact Dave Mantegna, Full Life Sports director, at 585-752-8221 with any questions.

Savory Suppers: September 14 - October 26
Have you walked by the gym the past few weeks on a Wednesday evening and smelled the goodness coming from inside, seen folks eating and wondered what  was going on and why you weren't invited? You ARE invited!! 

A community dinner is served each Wednesday at Pearce from 4:30-6:15pm in the Family Life Center. Registration is requested. Call the church office, sign up at the reception desk or sign-up on the  Pearce Church Website by 6pm the Monday prior to receive a discount.

Cost:
  • Adults:  $7 ($7.50 at the door)
  • Children under 12:  $4
  • Children under 5:  free (or donation)
What's Included:
  • Beverage Table:  Coffee, Decaf, Cold Beverage, Ice Water, Milk
  • Salad Bar:  to include but not limited to, hot home-made soup, fresh salad greens, assorted side vegetables, cut fruit, choice of salad dressings
  • Hot Buffet Tables: See weekly selection below
  • Dessert Table:  A nice variety with something new each week

If you haven't already done so, be sure to sign up for our texting service. Text messaging will be one of our primary means of communicating closings and emergency information. We suggest that you "opt in" to each program in which you have children involved. Besides our text messaging system, information about closings and emergencies will be posted to local television stations (13 WHAM, YNN, WROC, WHEC), WHAM 1180 and the P4K and Pearce Church websites and Facebook pages.

Our website, www.pearce4kids.org, has a Google calendar. Go to our website, click on the "Events" tab at the top. Click on the drop down Calendar link and you will be into the P4K calendar. On the calendar you will find information about:
  • Day Care lunch menus (click on the tab for the full menu)
  • Holiday Dates
  • School Age full and half day schedules and information about field trips, etc.
  • Nursery School & Pre-K days off, field trips and other events
Each program is color coded so you can easily search for information that is pertinent to your family. When in the calendar, if you want more information about a particular event posted, click on the event box and we will have more detailed information listed.
