Per Scholas Retains Site Manager for new Columbus Location

Andrea Applegate - Columbus
Meet Andrea Applegate, who we've just appointed chief manager for our planned new Per Scholas site in Columbus, OH, scheduled to open later this year. Andrea brings many critical strengths to the key position, including many years of close professional involvement with other workforce development initiatives in that city. Generous funding from JPMorgan Chase, CompTIA and the City of Columbus is making the expansion possible. We also thank the Huffington Post for already getting the word out. We look forward to sharing much more as we recruit our first class and open our doors later this fall!

Highlights from the May 3 Corporate Dinner

On the evening of May 3, 2012, Per Scholas launched its first-ever R.O.I. (Reach-Opportunity-Impact) corporate partner dinner honoring JPMorgan Chase Chief Information Officer Guy Chiarello. 20+ leading companies in finance, technology and media contributed enough funds to enroll more than 60 new students in our IT training program in 2012. Just as exciting, several of the sponsors pledged to hire Per Scholas graduates -- and are already following through. We can't thank them enough, nor can we ever adequately recognize the tremendous support from JPMorgan Chase in making our first corporate partner event such a resounding success. Read more about the evening and see pictures from the evening here.

It was a great piece that covered the current state of the digital divide, the demand for tech skills in today's economy, and how Per Scholas can offer a solution to both problems. Students, instructors, and CEO Plinio Ayala spoke about our work. Watch the video.
