Summer time and the weather is ..... steamy!
Just remember as it heats up, it is always cool in the Phoenix. We have events and educational opportunities lined up for all ages. June 26th our Fourth Friday Film Series  continues with a film on Linda Arbuckle and Saturday the 27th we'll be throwing bowls from 9am-9pm... for a twelve hour Empty Bowl-a-thon .

July starts out on the 3rd with a new exhibit of work by featured artist James Noury of Lawrence KS. Then we launch into Summer Mud Camp (July 6-10th)  and the first class offered by Heather Jones our talented jeweler:   Basic Soldering (July 11th).

Mid July brings a new session of 8 week classes
beginning July 14th and 15th, and a
Summer Tuition Special for new students. New students receive a 2 for 1 or 50% off.  That's a savings of $120 to $270.   We are hoping to fill our classes and make new clay addicts.

We will continue our popular Saturday Drop in classes and will schedule some additional birthday parties and ladies night out on demand.

August 7th will be the opening of our 3rd National Call for Entry show " Just Desserts" juried by Sunshine Cobb.
I can't wait to see the entries we will get in the last two weeks of this month!

We are growing and have expanded our clay, glaze and tool selection and added new potters, sculptors, fiber artists and wood carvers to the gallery. Remember us when you are shopping for your niece's wedding or a gift to bring with you on vacation for your extended family. We have gorgeous locally produced tableware and linens and women's accessories. Come in and visit with me this week, see what's new.
Sincerely,

Heather Grills
Fourth Friday Film Series
June 26th 7:00 PM

Linda Arbuckle: Fresh Color on Pottery

This film produced by NCECA (National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts) introduces us to the clay icon Linda Arbuckle and brings us inside her home, classroom and studio. She discusses her relationships and the everyday beauty in her Florida garden that inspire the colorful expressive majolica glazed earthenware. She is a professor at the College of Fine Arts at the University of Florida and  has received an artists fellowship from the NEA. Her work is in museums and galleries as well as in use in kitchens and on cheerful tables around the world. She will demonstrate her decorating technique as well as discuss philosophical questions about function of pottery...

As always Fourth Friday Film night is free but donations are always appreciated. We have chairs and bring some snacks to share. You can bring your own comfy camping chair and snacks as well.
Empty Bowl-A-Thon
Saturday June 27th 9am-9pm

The Empty Bowl-A-Thon is a twelve hour bowl making marathon creating bowls to be used for the November event that raises funds for local hunger relief.  Come watch as experienced potters do what they do best.

No Saturday drop in class on June 27th or July 4th.
James Noury - Going With The Flow

For the month of July, Phoenix will showcase the clay-work by James Noury of Lawrence, KS.  Noury's thrown work is extremely fluid as are his custom formulated glazes - he designs the work to direct and catch the glaze in pools! Noury's work will be on display July 3 - 31.
