Innovation's annual Global Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program. Led by Dr. Sandra Liu, a professor in the Department of Consumer Sciences and Retailing and former ENTR 310000 instructor, the program exposes students to Chinese culture, international business practices, company visits, and even Mandarin courses. In just two weeks, students form strong bonds through these shared academic and personal experiences.

If you are a current student interested in participating in May 2013, contact Jessie Thayer to be put on our list.

Recent Entrepreneurship Graduate Launches her Dream on KickStarter

[Mindy Migedt]

Political Science major, Mindy Migedt, didn't waste much time after graduation before embarking on a fundraising campaign to start her inspirational line of scarves on Kickstarter. The venture, called Fashion Food for the Soul, offers a collection of scarves incorporating inspirational quotes into the design of each. Mindy says her business idea came to fruition in part because of the skills and experiences she obtained in the Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program and the program's Women and Leadership Course. Be sure to check out her video on Kickstarter. Congratulations, Mindy, and best of luck as you start your business!

Budding Freshman Entrepreneurs From Around the World Come to Purdue

Over 45 incoming freshman with a strong interest in entrepreneurship chose to participate in the Entrepreneurship Learning Community this fall. These students, with diverse interests and cultural backgrounds, were greeted with a kick-off dinner sponsored and hosted by the
Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program. Learning
[2012 Learning Community]
communities at Purdue are designed to create cohorts of students with similar interests as a way to build community and increase retention.
These students live on the 8th floor of Harrison Hall, referred to as "the penthouse" and take ENTR 20000 together. At the dinner, Mike Cassidy, the Certificate Program lecturer who leads the learning community, gave the group inspirational words related to leading an entrepreneurial life. Students then shared their experiences related to being a new student and their entrepreneurial aspirations. We look forward to seeing what these motivated students accomplish while here at Purdue!

The Entrepreneurship Program Expands

The Certificate Program will continue to expand its offerings due to strong demand for courses. This coming spring, the program will offer an additional ENTR 31000 course bringing our total to six in addition to the seven sections of ENTR 20000 we offer each semester. We will also be offering a new "entrepreneurial consulting" capstone which will match teams of students with local businesses and entrepreneurs. This course will be led by Kris Taylor, current Certificate Program Instructor, and will require special approval to register. For more information, contact Kris Taylor.
