Two New American Women Track Records
|
Courtney Frerichs (Nixa, Missouri) set a new American record at the Diamond League meet in Monaco in 9:00.85 - bettering her previous PR of 9:03.77, which she ran in a spectacular 1-2 finish for Team USATF at the 2017 IAAF World Championships to claim silver.
Reigning USATF Outdoors 5,000m champion Shelby Houlihan (Sioux City, Iowa) set a pending new American record in 14:34.45 while competing in Heusden, Belgium. Houlihan, who also won the 1500m USATF Outdoors title this year, improved upon her previous PR by over twenty seconds (15:00.37).
The new AR breaks Shannon Rowbury’s previous 5,000m record of 14:38.92 set in 2016.

|
by Richard Ferguson
