Dear Parents,

Our interfaith bagel bunch was an amazing success!  It was so wonderful to see our grade 3-6 grade students, teachers, and madrichim (student aides) joining with students and teachers from the ICB (Islamic Center of Boston) to learn about one another and our similarities  and to begin the important work of forming relationships between our two religions and cultures. We are so grateful to our neighbors at the ICB for joining with us in this holy work. We are so proud of our students for the role they played as welcoming hosts and the hands they extended in friendship.

On Sunday, December 17th, we are planning a special Chanukah Festival for grades K-6 during religious school hours. We will begin with a Chanukah assembly at 9 am, during which we will light candles, sing songs and celebrate together! Students will sit by homerooms. At 9:30, students will rotate in designated grade-based groups  through 6 different fun Chanukah activity stations. Separate age appropriate stations will be set up for grades K-2, and for grades 3-6. Stations will include crafts, games, dreidel spinning, making Chanukah cards to donate to senior citizens,  story telling, picture charades, and other fun surprises. All student groups and activity stations will be led by teachers and madrichim.  At 10:40, students will return to their homerooms for closing activities and for 11 am dismissal.

As always, you can check on what your children have been doing in religious school this past week by clicking on the appropriate grade in the upper right hand column of this email.

Reminder: This Wednesday, students in grades 3-6 should go directly to classes. No Tefilah ( communal prayer) as our clergy will be at the URJ Bienniel.
