On April 1st, Slow Food Sac State and Soil Born Farms' Harvest Sacramento program worked together to organize over 80 student volunteers to harvest 4,652lbs of grapefruit, oranges, lemons, and kumquats from neighborhoods in East Sacramento.

UPCOMING: Big Day of Giving! May 4th!

Mark your calendar, the Big Day of Giving (Big DOG) date has been announced! On  May 4, 2017 Slow Food Sacramento will be counting on YOU, the supporters of Good, Clean and Fair Food for All, to donate to our work.

This  24-hour online giving challenge brings together the region's nonprofit community to help raise much needed unrestricted funds and shine a spotlight on the work nonprofits do to make the Sacramento region the place we call home.  For the third year running, your Big DOG donations will go towards the Farm to EVERY Fork gathering , a regional initiative to highlight the fight against hunger and homelessness in America's Farm to Fork Capitol.

** New this year: support for the School Gardens Coalition!  We heard you. Teachers, parents, youth, and Slow Food fans alike want MORE hands on education, resource sharing, and collaboration opportunities for school gardens, educators and kids. A portion of your Big DOG donations will fund Slow Food efforts to continue to educate more young people and support more schools.

Remember, May 4th we need your support!

UPDATE: Kingbird Farms Dinner Success!

Well, it was rain AND shine at this year's Kingbird Farms Dinner. Although the rain made its presence felt for a while, the tapas and paella expertly prepared by the team of Brenda Ruiz, Ed Roehr, and Kathleen Albiani all shined.

Thank you to the chefs and the guests for great wine, flexibility, and support of  Slow Food Sacramento, one of the strongest chapters of the international organization supporting good, clean, and fair food for all:  Slow Food.

This annual dinner supported our school garden coalition, youth network, and non-profit infrastructure

Thank you again to our Slow Food community for your support!
