Congratulations NWI Partners for Clean Air Award Winners!
From L-R: South Shore Line Director of Capital Investment and Implementation Nicole Barker, IDEM Commissioner Bruno Pigott, La Porte Mayor Blair Milo, Ozinga Ready Mix Concrete Vice President Rich DeBoer and IDEM Senior Environmental Manager Charles Breitenfeldt.
The NWI Partners for Clean Air hosted it's annual luncheon & awards ceremony at the Hammond Port Authority Clipper Room on April 28th. Partners for Clean Air is a coalition of Northwest Indiana businesses, industries, local governments, and community groups committed to improving overall air quality and public health through voluntary actions.

The winners: The bicycle award went to South Shore Line for the Bikes on Trains program, which allows riders to bring bicycles on select trains. The program recently expanded. The City of La Porte received the municipal award for the many sustainable programs it has embraced including the transition of all service vehicles to liquid propane autogas. Ozinga Ready Mix Concrete received the business award for its commitment to convert its entire fleet of ready mix concrete mixers to compressed natural gas. All three winners (pictured here) are proud South Shore Clean Cities members.

All Green Fuel Efforts are Worthy of Note
How often do you see something trending on social media and click on it to learn more?

The trendy item soon becomes the "must have" for the season, the hot new food item or the toy every child begs for. As easy as it is to get sucked into the hype, everyone knows deep down trendy isn't always better.

The same holds true for clean fuels, clean vehicles and clean energy. The popularity of individual technologies and products rises and falls with various market trends.
