The Spellbound pop-up shop inside Hop Ice Cream Cafe on Merrimon Avenue will now be open Monday-Friday 12 to 5 pm plus occasional evening hours. The bookstore Facebook page is the best place to quickly check for any changes.

I'm excited to share that actual physical work has commenced at the site of our future home!

I've started a blog on the Spellbound website for construction updates and whatnot.

Earn Free Audiobooks!LibroRefer

Tell your friends how they can support  Spellbound Children's Bookshop  via audiobooks. It takes less than a minute and you'll get free audiobooks for spreading the word!

Here's just a sampling of what you can order from Spellbound on audio:
  • Hot new releases from Tommy Orange and Lauren Weisberger
  • Taking pre-orders for new books from Michelle Obama and Alice McDermott
Would you like the option to rent a popular new book release? Maybe you don't want to buy new, but you can't find it used and the wait list at the library is too long...

We're considering starting a rental option for popular new releases. If the book is returned on time in good condition, only a small rental fee would be charged. If the book is not returned or is returned damaged, full retail price would be charged.

Your ice cream and book purchases support local literacy efforts
A Little Free Library in Leicester built and stocked by The POP Project

On Tuesday August 14 from 5 to 8 pm a portion of your ice cream purchases from The Hop and your book purchases from Spellbound's pop-up shop will be donated to local literacy non-profit The POP Project.

There will also be a big used book sale in the event area at The Hop, with all proceeds from used book sales supporting POP. Buy books for $1 and up each or fill up a reusable grocery bag for $15. (Cash or check only.)

Every $1 raised at this event translates to $10 in books donated back out into the community, filling Little Free Libraries and stocking bookshelves at local schools, shelters, and detention centers.

2014 NATIONAL BOOK AWARD FINALIST
A touching, hilarious "tour de force of imagination and empathy" ( Booklist , starred review) from John Corey Whaley, author of the Printz and Morris Award-winning  Where Things Come Back

Listen--Travis Coates was alive once and then he wasn't.
Now he's alive again.
Simple as that.

The in between part is still a little fuzzy, but Travis can tell you that, at some point or another, his head got chopped off and shoved into a freezer in Denver, Colorado. Five years later, it was reattached to some other guy's body, and well, here he is. Despite all logic, he's still sixteen, but everything and everyone around him has changed. That includes his bedroom, his parents, his best friend, and his girlfriend. Or maybe she's not his girlfriend anymore? Looks like if the new Travis and the old Travis are ever going to find a way to exist together, then there are going to be a few more scars. Oh well, you only live twice.

"The absolute best head transplant surgery love story I've ever read." --Matthew Quick, author of Silver Linings Playbook.
