Edrice Lewis Scholarship Fund
This past Sunday, Deacon Edrice Viechweg, made a presentation about her work in her home country, St. Kitts-Nevis. Edrice started the Edrice Lewis Scholarship Fund 10 years ago to help deserving children get off to a good start.  You can read more here.
Reflection

The picture here was found, in of all places, Scheel's Hardware in Fargo, ND.  In the Midwest, Scheel's has become the go-to store for all things sporting.  They also are branching out into some interior decorating, hence the picture of dogs with biblical quotes.  During my time back in Fargo for my nephew's graduation from high school, it was inevitable that we would take a trip to Scheel's.  Not that I don't like all things athletic, but the time there and the time in Fargo and Minnesota offered a window into the passions of young people, and I really enjoyed what I saw.  That reflection comes next week.  For now, the beauty of goldens and the book of Ruth will need to suffice.

Perceptum
From the Christian Century and Carol Zaleski:

Every year, I teach the classic theistic arguments in my philosophy of religion class. We start with the "ontological" argument in Anselm's Proslogion. Steeped as it is in monastic and biblical prayer, the Proslogion is more like a journey toward the intellectual vision of God than it is like a chapter in a philosophy textbook; yet in a few short paragraphs, Anselm contends rather ingeniously that for God, understood as "something than which nothing greater can be thought," nonexistence is simply not a conceivable option.  To read more, click here. . .

St. Francis
Prayer of St. Francis
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace,
Where there
is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is d
oubt, faith;
where there i
s despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy;

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
