The St. Joseph Convention & Visitors Bureau was established by Buchanan County voters in the spring of 1993 with the purpose of "advertising and promoting tourism in Buchanan County, Missouri." The CVB is governed by a board of seven members and is a political subdivision of the Buchanan County Commission.
The St. Joseph Convention and Visitors Bureau is an organization that will develop and implement marketing programs designed to maximize the economic impact of visitor dollars to Buchanan County.
In 2011, Buchanan County generated $153 million dollars in tourism related economic-impact according to the Missouri Department of Revenue.

Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Missouri will again become "The Summer Home of the Chiefs," during the 2012 Kansas City Chiefs Training Camp, presented by Heartland Health.
Training camp begins on Friday, July 27 and ends with a 3:20 p.m. practice on Thursday, Aug. 16. All afternoon and evening practices are open to the public while the earlier "walk- throughs" are closed. Any practices conducted indoors due to inclement weather will not be open to the public. Many Chiefs players will be available to sign autographs following the practice session.
The Chiefs will host a night practice at Spratt Stadium on Tuesday, July 31 at 7:15 p.m. and the annual Family Fun Day presented by American Family Insurance will be held on Saturday, Aug. 4 at 1:30 p.m. Unless otherwise noted, all practices are free, and there is a $5 parking fee. Family Fun Day has a $5 admission fee, with no charge for children ages three and under and parking that day will be free. Handicap accessible parking spaces are available in Lot H for the normal $5 charge.
For the first time Season Parking Passes will be available for those who are planning to make multiple visits to training camp. Season parking passes good for the duration of the camp will be available for $30 in the MWSU Athletics Office, at Looney Complex, room 229, beginning Thursday, July 26. Fans will need to give their license plate number, make, model and color of vehicle when purchasing these non-transferable hang tags. They are ONLY available in the athletics office.
Also a first, the Kansas City Chiefs will host the Arizona Cardinals at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, the week of Aug. 5th. Arizona will visit Kansas City's training camp in St. Joseph after opening its preseason slate on Sunday, Aug. 5. The Cardinals then play the Chiefs Friday, Aug. 10 at 7 p.m. at Arrowhead Stadium. More details on their visit to camp will be released later.
