Rally Day

Come celebrate the start of a new program year on Sept. 11! Sunday School at 9:45am, Worship at 11:00am & Picnic at 12:15pm. Sunday School kick off for all ages in the lower auditorium followed by worship and a picnic on the lawn.

Hamburgers, hotdogs and drinks will be provided.  Please bring a side dish or desert to share.  If you can help with picnic set up or clean up, please contact the church office

Sunday School Teachers Needed

It looks like we will need at least two new Sunday School teachers for the fall. Teaching our children about the Good News of Jesus Christ is so very important. If you would like to volunteer as a Sunday School teacher please contact Julia Tillman or Lee Ann Tegtmeier. Thank you.

Shelter Meal Coordinator Needed

We are so grateful for the wonderful way Britt Kauss coordinated the meals every night for our shelter residents. With a new job and all that comes with being a newlywed, she has to give up the job as meal coordinator for our shelter. So, we are now looking for someone to take over for Britt. If you would like to volunteer or if you have any questions, please contact Pastor Omholt. Thanks.

New Member Sunday

New members will be received into St. Paul's Church on Sunday, October 2 during the 11:00am worship service. There will be two classes for prospective members on Thursday, September 22 and September 29 at 7:00pm in room 207 of the educational building. If you cannot make the classes then feel free to meet with Pastor Omholt individually. If you have any questions about membership at St. Paul's, please contact Pastor Omholt or Vicar Hertzog

Food Pantry

Do not forget the food pantry over the summer - we always need the basics like soup, pasta sauce, canned vegetables and fruits, peanut butter and jelly. Also, toilet paper is a big request from our clients. Since Sunday School is out, we don't have that weekly donation anymore.

Shrub Donations
Four hydrangeas, eight azaleas, and six floribunda rose bushes are hoping you will become a sponsor. If interested in donating $30 to St. Paul's for one of these long-lived shrubs, either as a memorial or commemorative, please contact
Neil Berger or talk to him at church.

Brunn/Ferris wedding

Karen Brunn and Gail Ferris would like to invite all of members of the St. Paul's community to their wedding, which will take place at St. Paul's on Saturday, September 10, at 4 p.m.  A reception will then be held at the church immediately following the ceremony.  In lieu of presents, Karen and Gail have asked that any gifts be made to the church to benefit the St. Paul's homeless shelter.

Prime Time
Prime Time will kick off another year together on September 21, 2011 from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm in the lower auditorium.  The Georgetown Senior Group will again be joining us for fellowship and programs.  Pablo Grabiel, singer and classical guitarist will entertain from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm, followed by a delicious lunch that will be served between 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm.  A program entitled Healing Movement/Healing Stories will be conducted by Annetta Dexter-Sawyer, who is affiliated with the Arts for the Again organization from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm.  Please RSVP to the church office @202-966-5489 and request transportation assistance if needed.

Flu Vaccination Clinic
St. Paul's is partnering again with MAXIM Healthcare Systems to offer flu and pneumonia vaccinations on Sunday, October 2, 2011 - 9:00 am - 1:00 pm in Schafer Hall.  If you have Medicare B, Aetna Insurance or Bravo Health you are eligible for a no cost flu vaccination.  If you have Medicare B or Bravo Health you are also eligible for a no cost pneumonia vaccination.  For those without the above coverage plans the cost is $30.00 for flu vaccinations and $65 for pneumonia vaccinations.  Payment is requested at time of service in the form of cash or check.  Let's take this small step to stay healthy in the fall and winter seasons.  Contact Deaconess Cassie with any questions @202-966-5489.

Property Identification
The Property Ministry is requesting that church members, church groups, and users of our church identify by September 15 their property stored around the church and education wing. Items or storage containers should show the name of the responsible person or group. Items placed on cabinet tops, however, should be removed as soon as possible because they represent safety hazards. Let's make St. Paul's a cleaner and safer place for everyone!

Sale of Old Kitchen Dishes
The Property Ministry is sorting and creating an inventory of the hundreds of plates, cups, and other pieces of china and glassware that were replaced and stored in the church basement when the new kitchen was installed. We should have a final list completed by mid-September. We want to thank Henry Radamacher for beginning the project. Most of the green-rimmed heavy white china is in excellent condition, making it ideal for everyday use. To help our homeless shelter, we propose asking for donations of $1.00 per piece. If interested in helping with this project or in acquiring some of the china, contact  Neil Berger at  (202) 362-3139.

Prime Time - "Helping Hands"
As St. Paul's begins another year of Prime Time ministry we find ourselves in the wonderful position of welcoming the Georgetown Senior group to our gathering.  With this blessing of serving the larger community we find it necessary to ask for "helping hands" to assist in serving lunch to this combined group of approximately 30 participants.  If you are able to help on a routine or occasional basis please contact Deaconess Cassie @202-966-5489.
