May is always our busiest month at Stevenson Ridge: brides and grooms are sweeping down the aisles on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, taking advantage of the beautiful weather and our outdoor wedding area next to the pond. On top of that, three of the four major Civil War battles that took place in this area have their anniversaries in May, which brings a lot of buffs to the battlefields-and a lot of visitors to our cottages. After a long, cold winter like the one we just experienced, it is so invigorating to have the Ridge come to life like it does with so many events and so many visitors. Hopefully we'll be lucky enough to spend some time with YOU, as well.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Mackowski
Stevenson Ridge

Expanding Our Menus

Chef Brad has been doing a lot lately to expand our menu offerings. He has hit up food shows in Richmond and in Springfield (and wow, were there a lot of cheese vendors at that one, of all things). He's also been sampling more international options by visiting a number of the area's ethnic restaurants. Brad's next step is to take some of his discoveries into the kitchen to make them his own with that special flair of his. Catering clients will start to notice more of these options in the months ahead as Brad begins to roll out his new recipes.

Jennifer, meanwhile, has been to several wine tastings and a craft beer show to better explore options for our bar packages. Look for expanded offerings soon.

Emerging Civil War Symposium at Stevenson Ridge-Aug. 7-9

Registration is underway for the Second Annual Emerging Civil War Symposium at Stevenson Ridge, August 7-9, 2015. Tickets are only $95. Our own historian-in-residence, Chris Mackowski, will emcee an event that includes a panel discussion on the war in 1865 and a line-up of speakers who will address the theme "Civil War Legacies." Details on the symposium are available at Emerging Civil War's website (http://emergingcivilwar.com/2015-symposium).

Accommodations for the weekend have been filling up, but a few houses remain available. Email  info@stevensonridge.com with inquiries.
Wine Trolley Coming to Spotsy

Grains and grapes tours have been growing in popularity, and with the nice weather now upon us, there are certain to be more visitors hitting the trail. To highlight Spotsylvania County's offerings, the county visitors bureau is launching a new "Wine Trolley Tour" starting in May. The trolley will pick up visitors from Spotsylvania's Towne Centre and visit all four of the county's wineries. The tour will run on the third Sunday of each month through November. For more information: http://www.fredericksburgtrolley.com/winery.html

And of course, for people who need a place to stay after hitting the circuit, Stevenson Ridge has plenty of lodging options: www.stevensonridge.com
