Community Forums on Synthetic Drugs Synthetic Marijuana

Over 200 people showed their support for preventing the sale of synthetic drugs at Kingsport's Community Forum earlier this month. The next day the Board of Mayor and Alderman passed the ordinance on second reading and starting tomorrow it can be enforced.

On January 5, there will be a similar Community Forum at the Bristol Regional Medical Center (BRMC) Monarch Auditorium, from 6 - 8 PM, sponsored by BRMC and the Police Department. Please save the date and watch for more information.

Tobacco Retailers Education Guide Project - A Success

Tobacco Guide
One hundred forty six education guides were distributed between September 8 and October 31. As a result of this project, we now have a map of all of the tobacco retailers in Sullivan County, and coalition information has been left with retailers who also sell beer.

Thanks again to Melinda Wilcox, Linda Brittenham, Tony Daston, the Bristol Juvenile Court staff, Betty Folkner, Lt. Glenn James, Leslie Foglia, Kathy Keen, Amanda Mountain, Alisa Johnson, Bethany Plumbar, and Paula Holloway.
A Little Holiday Fun

As we come to the end of our first, busy year as a coalition, I am grateful for all of the support and concern that Sullivan County residents and organizations continuously contribute to the effort of making our communities a safer place for young people. We have the best partners anywhere!

It's been a serious endeavor, so how about a little holiday fun? Our website is now featuring NORAD Tracks Santa, with links to some fun activities for the kid in all of us.
