"Whom or What Can Separate Us from the
Love of God?"

                    Romans 8:26-39

We cannot continue living our lives like nothing is going on in our world. There are wars, rumors of wars and hate being spewed. The climate in our country and world is volatile. Everyday is filled with news story after news story of another shooting that does not make sense and we have no answers or explanations. What can we do? Well, we shouldn't sit back on our assets and do nothing. That is complacency. We are not called to be comfortable.

As a church, especially a MCC church we are called to action. Our core values are founded on social justice. We must be the voice of those who have no voice. We must be the voice of those who are speaking and no one else is listening.

Is there anything that can separate us from the love of God?

At SunCoast Cathedral MCC We Welcome Everyone!
We have an open Communion Table -- no one is turned away.  We affirm that every person is a beautiful creation of God.  Our congregants are ministers of the church and are available to answer questions or to direct you to those who can answer those questions.  Following service we invite you to join us for refreshments and a time to get to know us better.

Come as you are, believing as you do.

Sarasota Police, NAACP Reschedule Community Meeting
Monday, July 25, 6:30 - 8 p.m.
Robert L. Taylor Community Complex, 1845 34th St., Sarasota
Sarasota, FL - The Community Conversation between Sarasota Police, the Sarasota branch of the NAACP and other groups that was postponed Wednesday night (July 13th) has been rescheduled.
According to the police department, the meeting will now take place Monday, July 25 at the Robert L. Taylor Community Complex, 1845 34th St., Sarasota, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
The meeting was originally scheduled in the wake of the shooting deaths of black motorists in Baton Rouge, La., and Falcon Heights, Minn. It also came after a sniper attack in Dallas during a Black Lives Matters protest left five police officers dead and seven wounded. Two civilians were also injured in the attack, which has been characterized as the deadliest day for law enforcement since Sept. 11, 2001.
Come out and support the issues that affect all of us, directly or indirectly.  You might consider carpooling.

Landscaping Day at SunCoast Cathedral MCC

No Experience Necessary!

Saturday Night Movie and Conversation
August 13, 7pm
Sanctuary, SunCoast Cathedral MCC

Join us for an opportunity to share your thoughts and reactions after watching the movie "Woodlawn."  This family friendly movie is based on the true life story of NFL player,  Tony Nathan.  Following government-mandated desegregation in 1973, Nathan  joins fellow  African-American students at Woodlawn High School in Birmingham, Ala.  As violence and anger erupt in the city, Woodlawn football coach Tandy Gerelds allows an outsider to speak to his players. The message he brings leads to a spiritual awakening that inspires star athlete Nathan, his teammates and other members of the community  to overcome  the hate that surrounds them.

There is no charge for the event.
Bring the family and your friends.

A Message from your Board of Directors.......
Our Fundraising Ministry is taking on a new direction! The Board of Directors, after much thought and discussion, had decided to expand our energies around fewer events with a larger outreach and money making potential. These major events, which are scheduled for the next 12 months or so are:

                                     Event Coordinators
Pet Calendar                  Jack & Teresa Hutter
Golf Tournament           Pat Moore
Murder Mystery             Dorothy Bays
Poker Tournament        Sharon Van Butsel

Additionally, our well-attended dances will continue, spearheaded by a great team (Pat Boyd, Maryellen Bradley, Mary Convy & Linda Staib). Other events such as the Yard Sale, Trivia night, etc. are in need of an event coordinator.

If you are interested in leading one of these or have a new fundraising idea, be sure to pick up a Proposed Event form. Forms can be picked up in the office and should be given to Linda Staib or any member of the Board.

We invite you to engage with the coordinators listed above if you are interested in working on any of these events.
