TAP AMERICA PROVIDES NEXT STEPS FOR OCCUPY MOVEMENT

87 Percent of Americans Blame Washington Over Wall Street for

Poor U.S. Economy

occupy

SEATTLE, WASH. - October 19, 2011 - TAP America, a non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening America and its citizens, today announced suggested next steps for all Americans and supporters of the Occupy Wall Street movement. Since the beginning of the worldwide Occupy protests last month, citizens in major cities have taken to the streets in order to communicate their frustration with the U.S. economy by sending a clear message to Wall Street. Since the protests began last month, over 1000 Occupy events have taken place in 82 countries around the world, with over 100 events occurring across the United States.

Majority of Americans Blame Government Over Wall Street

In a new USA Today/Gallup survey, 78 percent of those surveyed said Wall Street deserves "a great deal" or a "fair amount" of blame for the poor economy, but even more - 87% - said the same about Washington. On who is more to blame for the weak state of the economy, 64 percent of people chose the federal government, while just 30 percent said it was fair while 44 percent said it was not.

"TAP America does not believe that the Federal Government nor Wall Street is solely responsible for the present problem," said TAP America Founder Mark Bloome. "The deficit came due to members of both parties supporting spending over a balanced budget. Elected officials are more concerned about their next election than keeping the country strong. In essence, we have bought our prosperity through decades of deficit spending, now we are paying the price."

Next Steps for the Occupy Movement

TAP America asks that citizens take the following steps in order to send a message to Wall Street and to our decision-makers to make to bring jobs and hope back to America:

1. Pledge to Buy American - If each citizen spent an additional dollar per day on American-made goods, this alone would create an additional million jobs in America. By taking individual action we can enact social change that will send a message that we want quality goods made by our own-two hands rather than those made in China.

2. Support Local American Merchants - By agreeing to support local businesses, we are keeping money in our local communities and keeping jobs local. TAP America believes in keeping our communities stable and healthy by supporting local farmers and merchants who are in our own backyard.

3. Understand Why People are Fed-Up - The bailouts of the large businesses and big banks are due to these institutions' reckless practices of taking very high risks. According to Bloomberg News, over twelve trillion dollars were used either to prop up or lend to banks and other businesses such as AIG. Perhaps the Occupy Wall Street should consider having government break up these large institutions so that should they fail, the losses will be borne by the stockholders, not the tax payers.

4.   Consider China's Role in Our Economic Decline - The Chinese Communist Government has enacted several tactics and policies to attempt to gut out the American economy. By devaluing their currency, they are enticing businesses in the U.S. and other countries to send manufacturing jobs to China. As a result, America no longer has the same manufacturing base as a decade ago. Send a message to both businesses choosing to send American jobs overseas and the Chinese government by buying American made goods whenever possible.

Citizens Unite To Enact Change

"We believe that our nation is at a crossroads," said Richard Tso, executive director of TAP America. "With the Occupy Wall Street protests, people are beginning to unite to take a stand for what they believe in and this is to be commended, although the Occupy Movement needs a clear plan for next steps. Indeed, action needs to start at the citizen-level in order to get our country moving again and this can be achieved by people taking individual responsibility to buy American and practice tolerance."

TAP America recently announced their TAP Certified Merchant program to encourage stores to stock at least 20% of U.S. goods and to increase their American made inventories by just 1% per month. As incentive, businesses who sign up are featured in news articles, included in the TAP online business directory, and are featured in a Groupon-like service called AmeriCoupon that helps people find deals on products made in America.

Since launching in January of 2011, TAP has created several national awareness campaigns aimed at promoting tolerance, encouraging people to stay physically active, and to purchase products made in America. BLACK FRIDAY MARKS START OF "BUY AMERICAN MONTH"

TAP America Urges Citizens to Purchase Domestically Made Goods, Experiential Gifts & Boycott China This Holiday Season

 Merchant Seal

SEATTLE, WASH. - November 22, 2011 - TAP America, a non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening America and its citizens, today declared December 2011 as "Buy American Month," just in time for the holiday shopping season. TAP America believes that the United States economy is suffering at the hands of the Chinese government due to their aggressive policies. To avoid the long lines on Black Friday, TAP America is asking for American citizens to buy American, give service-oriented gifts, and boycott products made in China, thereby sending a message to corporations and manufacturers that people value American workers, jobs and innovation.

Researching China's Influence Over America

According to TAP America Founder Mark Bloome, "Next year China needs to create over 25 Million new jobs to meet population growth and the Communist Government of China (CCP) will use any means to take jobs from Americans and bring them to China, and the failure of the USA economy to recover is proof of the effectiveness of the CCP's policies that include subsidies, theft of intellectual ideas and currency manipulation. We encourage all citizens to take 'Buy American Month' to heart and do their best to help boycott China this holiday season."

As part of "Buy American Month" TAP America has issued an in-depth research whitepaper that examines the expanding role of China in the global marketplace in terms of population, economic growth, human rights and military strength. This research paper highlights the threats and interdependent relationships of the Chinese government in hopes of eliciting change at the citizen-level to re-ignite the torch of liberty for America and the world. TAP reminds citizens to remember that it is not the Chinese people who pose a threat to America, but the Chinese Government ruled by the Chinese Communist Party.

Buy American for Holiday Shopping

"Asking Americans to buy American is not an easy task," said Richard Tso, Executive Director of TAP America. "Today most all electronic, clothing and textile goods are manufactured in China and popular American companies like Apple, REI, Walmart, and GAP are sending manufacturing jobs overseas in order to achieve short-term revenue gains. This holiday, in lieu of giving gifts products as gifts, TAP America urges people to Instead give experiential and service-oriented gifts like: gym memberships, concert tickets, some rounds at the golf course, or local restaurant gift certificates. If you need to purchase a product as a gift, then try to buy American to help our economy."

TAP America Newsletter        Nov 2011

Greetings!

December is Buy American Month!

Give the gift of experience. As we head into the holiday gift-giving season, we urge all Americans to think before they buy. Instead of purchasing products made in one of China's factories, why not give an experiential gift like a trip to the zoo, a massage or a gift certificate to a favorite local restaurant or small business. We need to remember the true meaning of the holidays and not give-in to excessive and blind consumerism.

For those who still need to purchase a gift for that special someone, I urge you to do your best to buy products made in the U.S.A. This will ensure that our citizens have jobs in the future to feed their families and help revitalize our economy.

Please take a moment to watch our new video called "What is TAP America?". If you are in a position to help, please consider making a donation to TAP America by clicking here. Your support helps us continue to provide national programs to promote tolerance and educating our citizens about the value of buying American. Thank you for supporting our cause and we look forward to continued success through the rest of 2011.

TAP America Urges Citizens to Unite and Boycott China:

American Retailers Need to Stock Products Made In America

By Mark Bloome, Founder of TAP AmericaMark

China, the rising super power of the world, poses the greatest threat to the economic independence and political freedom of the United States - far more than Islamic terrorism. As China continues to expand its economic, political, and military strengths, it exerts expanding influence over other nations. Just recently Europe went to China begging it to bailout Europe.

This executive summary will highlight the threats posed by the Chinese Communist government in hopes of invoking change at the citizen-level to re-ignite the torch of liberty for America and the world. While examining this threat, we must remember that it is not the Chinese people who pose a threat to America, but the Chinese Government ruled by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

I. Economy

The Rise of China

The Chinese Communist Party possesses the military, economic, population and political power to undermine the foundation of our beloved country. China's population exceeds that of the United States by 3 to 1. This represents labor, military and intellectual capital for China. China is already ahead of the United States in many technologies such as solar panels, advanced manufacturing techniques and a modern infrastructure. For example, China has 6000 miles of high-speed rail while the USA has none!

America's Dependence on China

China has been able to turn America's capitalistic system against us. Top-down state capitalism is proving to be a more efficient system than the push and pull of our democracy. From a strategic POV we are short-term planners with an eye to next quarter. Because of the cheap prices made possible through devaluing their currency, lack of worker's rights, and very few environmental regulations, our American corporations fire Americans and hire Chinese workers to drive higher profits. Companies with squeaky-clean images like Apple, REI and Target are taking jobs away from American workers by manufacturing their products overseas in China.

Because quarterly and yearly profits drive both stock prices and executive bonuses, executive decisions are made to abandon America and support China.

The movement by American companies to both manufacture and import from China is the main reason the USA economy has not recovered. Manufacturing is one of the foundations of our economy our foundations have been razed.

China needs to create more than 25 million jobs each year to keep pace with their increasing work force and internal political peace. It is the policy of the CCP to use multiple strategies, some legitimate, most not, to take jobs away from Americans and give them to Chinese workers. The best chance America has to stop the Chinese juggernaught is to buy American goods and services.

The reduction in American jobs has caused both our small business profits and workers wages to decline significantly, thus increasing our deficits and less tax revenues. We need tax revenues to pay for schools, roads, senior health care, prisons, police, and a strong military.

II. Military

China's Military Expansion

While publicly pretending to want peace, in fact China is building a strong military to confront the USA and protect its interests.

According to October 24, 2011 issue of The New York Times, "In the past year, China has tested its first radar-evading fighter jet, the J-20, and is developing an anti-ship ballistic missile that is designed to hit American aircraft carriers. China is also in sea trials with its first aircraft carrier. And the People's Liberation Army - with some 1.25 million ground troops, the largest in the world - is on track to achieve its goal of building a modern, regionally focused force by 2020." This highlights that China is preparing to confront the United States in the near future.

Examples of China's growing military competence:

  • In 2007, a Chinese submarine, capable of torpedo or missile attack, popped up next to the Kittyhawk, a US Carrier with 4500 personnel on board. The sub went undetected and left the US Navy dumbfounded as to how it went undetected so long. The US's falsely-held beliefs of naval superiority were put into question. As its technologies progress, the US can expect the Chinese military to continue to test the capabilities and weaknesses of the US navy.
  • The U.S. government along with MacAfee has recently implied that China is involved in one of the largest hacking efforts in history, breaching into computers and databases within US government offices and departments. The U.S. government just released a report about China's cyber attacks on our government, military and industrial organizations. Further MacAfee released a statement saying, "It had alerted the 72 targets it identified and also informed law enforcement agencies, which it said were investigating. The 14-page report calls the attacks highly sophisticated and says they appear to have been operated by a government body, which it declined to name."
  • The sophistication of such attacks illustrates the Chinese's competence to cyber attack the US's our military, economic, electrical power and industrial capacities with the goal of shutting us down. . Evidence points out extended Chinese cyber attacks on the Pentagon, CIA, and FBI.
  • There is evidence that China has supported Islamic terrorism throught Iran. Iran is a major supporter of Islamic terrorism and according to the U.S. government, is building nuclear bombs. To afford to do these things Iran receives significant economic support from China by "trading" for Iranian oil. It is in China's interest to use Iran to fund Islamic terrorists as this both keeps us devoting resources in the Middle East and stopping domestic terrorism. China's potential support of a terrorist nation weakens us, increases our deficits, and keeps our military pre-occupied.

III. Human Rights

Human Capital and Human Rights

The Communist government restricts freedom of all sorts in the name of "national harmony". It has even created a roadblock to upward mobility for its citizens. This roadblock comes in the form of identity cards issued at birth to Chinese citizens based upon their social and geographical status. Chinese citizens born in rural farming areas are limited to rural jobs and opportunities. Legally, they cannot take up jobs or even residence within larger Chinese cities to earn a livable wage. Because of this illegal status the rural workers who need city jobs, work more like illegal immigrants at low paying jobs.

China's conquest and subjugation of Tibet, its murder of over 3000 people at Tiananmen square and censorship to prevent knowledge of this event by its citizens are all examples of how the Chinese Communist Party exhibits its control over its people and how it would control other nations.

Conclusion

Throughout history, empires have risen and fallen. For over a thousand years the Chinese Empire had been the most sophisticated and dominant empire in the world. Historically when China ruled Asia and dealt with the West, its policy was and is likely to become that all nations must kowtow (Kneel and touch the ground with the forehead in worship or submission as part of Chinese custom and respect) to China.

As China's political power and influence grows and as other countries decline, it is possible that more and more countries will adopt, or be forced into, the Communist system of central control, suppression of freedom, and state ownership of most businesses. This is because the winning system becomes the one which others are forced to adopt. For the last hundred years it has been American democracy and capitalism. Before that it was English and European dominance and colonialism.

Right now the bankrupt European nations are coming, hat in hand, to beg China to help them out. China wants access to advanced armaments from European manufactures to be used offensively and aimed at defeating the United States.

China's centralized government has shown an ability to accelerate change so that we can expect an even more rapid pace for them to be prepared to take against America and other nations. Their astute economic tactics promoted and promulgated by the CCP has allowed China to rise at a rate of industrialization unheard of in modern history. One of the reasons that have allowed China to grow so rapidly is its repression of human rights in the context of harmony. There is no overt political opposition in China, which is in keeping with how China views its internal policies. As Tibet has shown China will use military suppression on all countries that it either conquers or dominants.

China and the USA are at a crossroads about whose values win-- the freedom of America or the iron fist of the Chinese Communist Party. We can win simply by buying American goods and services. Chinese exports to the West are dropping and European exports which count for 22% of China's GNP, will drop as Europe goes into a tailspin. We have a window of opportunity to create internal dissent in China if we add to China's economic weakening by boycotting Chinese goods.

If China turns against itself, and Americans take individual responsibility through buying American, then we can remain the strongest nation and keep the light of liberty alive for all people.

The case for making and selling American products gathers momentum

From Oct 2011 | By Fiona Soltes

Made in USA

For more than 65 years, the family that founded Sub-Zero has believed that consumers purchase the company's premium products because of their quality. But recently, with a groundswell of support for American-made items, the Madison, Wis.-based manufacturer of built-in home refrigeration has found it important to tell that story, too.

"We're not waving flags and saying that should be the sole decision-maker," Sub-Zero corporate marketing manager Paul Leuthe says. "But there is a heritage there, and we're proud of it."

U.S. consumers don't have to look far these days to hear encouragement for buying American. Moved by the sluggish economy, bloggers and pundits have touted the link between U.S. manufacturing and U.S. jobs. But complex issues rarely have simple solutions: Are consumers willing to pay more for a made-in-the-U.S.A. label? If so, how much? Are margins already too tight for retailers to eat additional costs? Has too much infrastructure moved offshore for the opening of another mill to make a difference? Would it help if American manufacturing concentrated on the industries they do best and let the rest go?

"We've been sticking to our knitting, and that's what has led to us being a brand leader in the marketplace," Leuthe says. The company is more than just surviving: Sub-Zero - which acquired Wolf cooking appliances in 2000 - recently outgrew its Phoenix production facilities and purchased a 440,000-sq.-ft. building for developing new products. And though it had to let some employees go when the recession was at its worst, many already have been hired back.

"There is an optimism in the company," Leuthe says. "With the new facility, it would have been easy to go south of the border, but our owner said, 'No, I'm going to keep it here.' We have a number of competitors out there, but we feel like we do it better than anyone else due to our components, systems and work ethic. We're only going after our niche, and that's one of the reasons we haven't migrated offshore with our production."

A 'til-death kind of loyalty

Alex Kaplan, a cosmetic surgeon and owner of Celebrity Laser Spa in Los Angeles, searches out products that are American-made and encourages others to do the same through his "Made in U.S.A." blog. He wants retailers to provide better labeling for what they sell.

"Just highlight the products made in the U.S.A," he urges. "Promote them. ... Am I going to spend an hour just to find one thing that's not imported? No. I'm going to go find it online instead."

Conversely, he says, when he finds a retailer that promotes the country of origin on products - and trains employees to know the difference, "I evangelize them. They will have that 'til-death kind of loyalty from people like me."

Consumers like Kaplan often see the issue as more patriotic than political, and organizations are stepping up to connect those "patriots" to companies. TAP America - TAP being an acronym for tolerance, Americanism and patriotism - introduced its TAP Certified Merchant program in July to support small businesses and educate consumers. Members agree to stock at least 20 percent American-made goods in their stores, as well as to increase those levels by 1 percentage point a month. In return, those members receive a listing in the TAP business directory, as well as decals to promote the idea to customers.

TAP America founder Mark Bloome - an investor, philanthropist, community activist and former retailer - hopes the program will catch on like consumer review-driven organization Yelp.

"We may look simple," Bloome says, "but this is not simplistic. We've just got to start somewhere ... we're not going to be able to get anywhere until we get our economy together."

Bloome began studying global systems after selling his business 30 years ago. "It became clear to me, looking at the present situation, that the key to any retail business is local employment." He cites subsidies of business through low-cost land, currency manipulation and other methods of gaining competitive advantage over U.S. manufacturers, and others back him up.
