A Child Friendly Court 

 

 named for Los Angeles  County Board of Supervisors, Ed Edelman who always had a hand in spearheading reform in a failed foster care system in Los Angeles County. He knew that young children were intimidated by the huge downtown criminal court building where they had to appear prior to the child sensitive court built named after him. Edleman is said to have been a champion of the poor,, the hungry, the weak and the abused

A dedicated attorney -every child in the foster care system has an attorney.  Unfortunately they don't all have one as dedicated as Richard Novak who rescued Brandi from the system in 1994, by having Shirlee Smith, foster mom, appointed by the court as guardian. He was still with Brandi and Shirlee   for adoption in 2015.
