by Guest Leader Natan Fuchs

"Jewish Liberation: A History"
While Rabbi Falick attends a conference in Washington, Natan Fuchs will lead a special service and speak about the topic of Jewish liberation -celebrated in the spring holidays of Purim and Passover-throughout the course of Jewish history.

In his presentation, Natan will trace Jewish liberation from Hellenistic and ancient Rabbinic Judaism to present day Secular Humanistic Judaism.
Shabbat
Friday, March 31
7:30pm, Service with Rabbi Falick

Special Guest Speaker:
Fred Edwords,  Past Exec. Dir.,
American Humanist Association

"The Promise of Humanism"
Every religion has a promise it offers to adherents. But what is the promise of humanism? What is its attraction? Emerging in the early twentieth century, humanism struck a chord because it too answered a need. It offered an outlook that many found refreshing. There was something striking about its this-worldly forthrightness and down-to-earth honesty that cleared the air and liberated the mind. And this humanist experience continues today to uplift and inspire growing numbers of Americans. Join us as we immerse ourselves in that experience and enjoy the inspiration it can bring.

"Samos Volunteers"

Rescuing Refugees in Samos and Other Greek Islands
Samos and other Greek islands off the coast of Turkey are the landing point for thousands of Syrian (and other) boat refugees. As BT prepares a project to assist during this crisis, we will learn about how volunteers and NGOs are addressing it and what we will be doing to help. The Samos project is one of three legs of our congregation's efforts to assist immigrants and refugees.
